    Suppose you’re sitting in a waiting room, and the TV is on, and it’s annoying, and nobody is watching it anyway. You can casually get up, identify the make of TV, go back to your seat, and download a remote control app. With the app, you can gradually reduce the volume on the TV, or even turn it off altogether.

    And I just had someone join me in the waiting room, and go examine the TV for a way to turn it on, but – damn – there’s no button on the TV, and her search of the room did not yield a remote. So she left for another room, I guess.

    Yes. I do love my smartphone as much as I hate TV.

    Well thats how it starts. And pretty soon people are turning on and off nuclear weapons and toasters.
