Rams Docked A Sack

not that it really matters, but it appears that the official nfl scorers have docked the rams their lone sack against the vikes. the play in question occurred in the 2nd quarter when cassel fumbled a shotgun snap, chased it down, picked up, and then was promptly smothered by pursuing rams for a 10-yard loss. apparently the official scorekeepers, after further review (they had originally scored it a sack), believed cassel attempted to run with the ball after he corralled it, thus making it a run attempt and not a pass attempt. so at the end of the day it goes down as zero sacks for the rams in week 1, one of just four teams not to record a sack in the season opener. the last time the rams went without a sack on opening day was in 2009. sackless, kinda sums up the rams play last week, eh?

As long as teams can complete
short passes the Rams aint gonna
get many sacks.
I dunno what the answer is to that.

I agree, wv.

The way offenses are going to play the Rams will limit what the line is able to do–and add to that fact that the refs do not care if Robert Quinn is held or not, and you make it very difficult. They will force the Rams to slow down a bit to account for the short stuff, the screens, etc. This really depends on the OFFENSE. If the offense can get big leads everything changes. But I’m not holding my breath on that one.

We’ll see what the Rams do.

There’s a real good chance Wms is as smart as any coordinator out there, and for every yin there’s a yang.

So I don’t know yet, myself, if offenses attacking that way will be this perennial issue.

We have to be able to trust the secondary to cover for 2 seconds.
