    You need to tell some folks at ROD that it is not rare to play a 3/4 1-gap defense with a 3-tech instead of a 5-tech DE on the defensive right side.

    In doing that Phillips is not doing anything new.

    Actually, the 3 tech on the right side is typical.

    Houston plays the X tech ( varies, typically 5,7,9) on the LEFT side.

    I’ll likely make that one of my Dead Horse Post of the Week posts.

    By the way, we’re going to the playoffs this year. Almost certainly as a 5 or 6th seed, but we’re going. Book it.

    And that’s with a ridiculous schedule that the Pats will never get.

    That was a good conversation, but I got frustrated reading the 2 – 3 guys who just didn’t seem to get that Donald is not being sacrificed because in fact you can play a 1-gap 3/4 with a 3- tech instead of an end on one side. It had a “but this one goes to 11” feel to it in those moments.

    My question about the defense has to do with Barron—will it be Forrest or some other option at the other OLB spot, or Barron?

    I almost this was an Alex Mack post. Jeesh. The need to draft Pat Elflein in round 2 to upgrade our Center position.
