December 12, 2016 at 6:23 pm #60821AgamemnonParticipantKevin Demoff says the worst thing they could do is put a timeframe on a coaching hire, that he wants to make sure it's the right hire.
— Lindsey Thiry (@LindseyThiry) December 12, 2016
Demoff would not guarantee that General Manager Les Snead will return, adding that it would not be a guarantee for anyone to return.

— Myles Simmons (@MylesASimmons) December 12, 2016
Demoff said in final few weeks he wants to see Jared Goff progress and better energy from team, who he said looked flat the last few games.

Kevin Demoff called the Rams position a very attractive job because of LA, new stadium and young core of talent on team.
— Lindsey Thiry (@LindseyThiry) December 12, 2016
They had to fire Fisher now, because what if he won against Seattle? This was the best time to fire him.
December 12, 2016 at 6:53 pm #60829AgamemnonParticipantDemoff says one of the hallmarks of a Jeff Fisher team is that the players don't quit on him, and he does not believe that this team did.
— Lindsey Thiry (@LindseyThiry) December 12, 2016
Demoff: “I think it would be very unfair to say this team quit on Jeff Fisher.”
— Myles Simmons (@MylesASimmons) December 12, 2016
Rams will have practice starting shortly, then we’ll hear from players after. Following that, we’ll hear from interim HC John Fassel.

Or maybe they thought Goff needed a better coach? Goff wasn’t getting much help out there.

December 12, 2016 at 7:00 pm #60834wvParticipantI dont think it had anything to do with Goff. I think it was just the totality of the circumstances. The general, total, collapse.
A critical mass of ineptitude, bonehead plays, and outside pressure.
Now watch fassel win three in a row. Then what? 🙂

vDid you forget ED? huh? I don’t think you can discount Goff. He is like an elephant in the room. jGoff will have a huge effect on who the next coach and OC is. Of course, since it is LA, it will be a splash hire. imo

I doubt anyone expects that changes NOW.
I mean what are the odds?

I doubt that anything changes between NOW and the end of the year.
Wait. ED will be back at the games. 😉

vIt was the totality of circumstances. I agree.
What had not occurred to me – and I’m surprised nobody pointed this out to me since I was pretty much on my own in saying Fisher probably wouldn’t be fired – is that if the Chargers opt to move to LA, Kroenke starts selling PSLs in January. And he wants that PSL money to finance construction of the stadium rather than having to borrow or liquidate.
And if Spanos says, yes, then two teams start selling PSLs at the same time, one of which performed very badly, right in front of Los Angeles, with a highly unpopular coach and a streak of crappiness that may be harder to sell.
This unraveling of the team comes at a bad time for Kroenke.
So…I think that’s what it comes down to.
As I said elsewhere, I bet if the Rams beat Atlanta, Fisher wouldn’t have been fired – at least right now – but bouncing a kickoff off of the facemask and dropping behind by 7 ten seconds into the game, and giving up more touchdowns to Atlanta in LA than the Rams have scored in LA themselves the entire season?
No bueno.
December 12, 2016 at 10:39 pm #60869InvaderRamModeratori think psls played a part, but i also get the sense that kroenke is a long term thinker, and the changes he makes aren’t going to be based on just the next two years until the stadium is built. i’m guessing he wants to get this right, and his choices will be geared toward building something that’s going to last.
i think that means a whole bunch of changes are going to happen.

but i’ve thought about it, and this is what i would do. scrap the whole thing. hire a gm. a football guy. and let him run the whole show. let him hire the head coach. relegate demoff. just get out of the way and let the gm make the football decisions. that’s how it should be. the gm should be in charge.
i don’t know who that gm would be. kroenke will have to lean on the advice of football people around the league.
at first i was thinking let’s hire a hot shot head coaching candidate. but no. i think that would be the wrong approach. hire a guy who has to manage personnel and coaching. don’t leave the final decision in the hands of the head coach. just let him coach.
