The wife has it on or honestly–I probably wouldn’t even watch it.
But Mad Max is cleaning up.
I know that critics loved it–audiences loved it–but I just never got it.
On the other hand–I didn’t particularly like any of the films. If i HAD to give a Best Picture to one of them I’d probably go with “The Martian”. But I’m not overly impressed this year.
They gave “Original” screenplay to “Spotlight” which is based on a real story about a real investigative team. Still not sure how “original” that makes it.
Of course–I didn’t get a vote this year.

I liked it, a lot, myself.

Oh there’s no doubt that a lot of people loved the movie. I’m just sorry you had to be wrong about it too. Just kidding. 🙂

Hey.
That hurt.

I would not have even nominated him.I thought this was the weakest group of “best picture” nominees I’ve ever seen.

Chris Rock:”…The last thing I need is to lose another job to Kevin Hart,” said Rock. He added, “If they nominated hosts, I wouldn’t even get this job. You all would be watching Neil Patrick Harris right now.”
That wasn’t his only zinger. The comedian called the Oscars the “the White People’s Choice Awards,” dubbed Hollywood “sorority racist,” and said that black performers want more “opportunity” to loud applause. Race was a subject that Rock returned to throughout the program with gags that included imagining nominated films such as “The Revenant” and “The Martian” recast with African-American actors like Whoopi Goldberg and Tracy Morgan, and a bit that found him interviewing moviegoers outside an urban L.A. theater about the diversity controversy….”- This reply was modified 8 years, 9 months ago by wv.
February 29, 2016 at 10:45 pm #39826ZooeyModeratorI want to see The Revenant.
I haven’t seen many DiCaprio movies. But the only thing I saw that I thought he was really good in was Gilbert Grape. I didn’t see The Aviator or Blood Whatever. I heard he was good in those.
But. I think I have, on average, one student a year who is as good or better. And none of them are rich enough to drive a Prius like he does.

I thought his best performance was probably “Gangs of New York”. He was also pretty good in “The Departed”. I think he’s a pretty good actor. He’s no Danial Day-Lewis but who is?

Yeah, plus “Blood Diamond” … which z mentioned.
So there’s “Blood Diamond,” “The Departed,” “Gangs of New York,” and “The Aviator,” plus “Catch Me If You Can,” “J. Edgar,” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” In a lot of those films, his performance is routinely the one thing people like about them.

not a big fan, but he was good in “The Departed” and I liked the movie “Catch Me if You Can” but I didn’t think he was that great in it….
and I agree, he was good in Gilbert Grape… I forgot about that movie…..
March 3, 2016 at 3:17 pm #39906ZooeyModeratorI don’t understand the love for “Catch Me if You Can.” I felt like that movie was a waste of time. I appear to be the only one who thinks so, though, so no offense to fans of the movie.
