    Receiving: 300 yards, 4 TDs
    Rushing: 207 yards (8.3 a carry), 2 TDs
    Returns: 164 yards, 1 TD

    Total: 773 yards, 7 TDs

    Avg: 96.625 yards, 0.875 TDs

Projected for 16 games: 1546 yards, 14 TDs

I know, “on pace for” doesn’t mean anything, except this—it gives you a sense of how he looks at this point. It’s hard to get what “xyz yards in 8 games” means, so it’s more easily made visible if you say “at 16 games it would be this.” It’s not a promise, it just offers a sense of perspective.

He also has room for improvement. I wish they could get him to move forward on punts instead of dancing. All in all, though, he’s doing this year exactly what they drafted him to do.

the only thing i’m hoping for at this point is if there’s any way welker can unlock tavon’s potential as a slot receiver.

otherwise he’s done pretty well i think. and he and gurley have something special going right now. i’m willing to bet that the rams have been number one in the league in rushing since gurley’s arrival as a full time starter, and part of that is due to tavon’s abilities.

now if he could ever learn to play slot receiver.

i remember when stephen davis came to the rams and the influence he had on jackson. could welker have a similar influence on tavon?

The totals yards aside, it shows how versatile he is and how valuable he is to the offense and special teams. He’s not nearly as good as Devin Hester was in returning kicks, but he is a better receiver and can run the ball too.
