znModeratorfrom Rating the Packers vs. Rams

As the game wore on, left tackle Greg Robinson played like a man among boys, and rookie left guard Jamon Brown moved people, too. With refinement, Robinson might have the dancing-bear feet and aggressive temperament to become the next dominant tackle.

InvaderRamModeratori still have faith in robinson. he’s got it all. and he works hard. is his head swimming right now? probably. but it’s only his sophomore season. the line as a whole is young. he’s playing next to a rookie. i’ll give him time. boudreau said he has more potential than willie roaf. i believe him.

InvaderRamModeratorlet me also add that this oline as a whole has gone against two really tough front sevens in arizona and green bay. hopefully, they gotta lot of tape now to look at during the bye week. iron out some of the mistakes.

G Rob is playing better and better every week. The Rams run behind him and he is mashing people. He is playing better and he is grinding people up in the ground game. He may not win every single play but the defenders get paid too…you know what I mean?
He is a dominant top run blocking LT right now. His pass pro is improving. He hasn’t even played a full 16 games yet at the position. It is a very common theme for most rookie LT’s to struggle at times….but Robinson is fast becoming a dominant run blocker, he is not struggling there at all.
Pass Pro is still a work in progress…but watch each and every pass play…and I bet you see some dominant plays, some good plays, some stalemates and a few plays where he just blows it…Its too bad that when he wiffs or makes a mistake on 1 or 2 plays it dwarfs the multiple good to dominant wins he had…such is the life of an NFL LT picked at #2 though.
Robinson was the right pick I firmly believe it. It might be next year still before he really gets his due….but ask anyone who pays attention or has the all 22….Robinson is playing at a high level in the run game…top level in fact….he is steadily getting better with his pass sets as well…The guy has all the tools he just needed to be coached up get experience and play LT for more then 8 games. Lets all remember he isnt even to 1 full season at the spot yet. He will be an All Pro imo.

nittany ramModeratorSeems to be a huge disparity between PFF’s evaluation of GR and those in this thread.

Well that depends on what PFF means by its grading system. They could be seeing the same things, more or less, but the PFF numbers just work a certain way according to their system. So PFF may subtract a lot for one whiffed pass block, while the guys in this thread go “enh that’s gonna happen with a green LOT but he’s trending up.”
I actually don’t really pay much attention to PFF grades, and look instead just at rankings. Even then I just take them as “more or less.” My view is that PFF rankings more or less square with what you see yourself and that when it comes to that they are seldom wildly wrong.

InvaderRamModeratorby the end of the season we should have a much better idea of what the rams have in robinson. we’re not gonna have the whole picture, but we should have an idea. if he has made no progress by the end of the season, i will officially be worried.

He has already made progress.
Right?
To me the only question is, how much progress.

InvaderRamModeratorwell from game to game it’s too hard to gauge accurately. he’s gone against some great dlineman especially this last game.
i’m more interested in an overall picture from game 1 to game 16. so basically i’m saying i’m gonna wait until the end of the season or at least another 5 games before forming an opinion.
i think patience is needed with this guy. especially considering the position he plays and how raw he is.

Eternal RamnationParticipantWe knew from the beginning he could run block, there is no debating his physical tools but the mental aspect is what’s effecting him. One on one, no stunting twisting blitzing he’holds his own, he is still playing high and getting away with it leaning on his physical advantage. The mental game is troubling for me. I do not see improvement others have seen but I’m no OL expert either. IMO the light has yet to go on in Pass Pro but watching him destroy people in the run game is enjoyable.
