You’re out of football chilling in the Idaho hills Seahawks Land while playing the clueless victim in this latest episode of Spygate. Grow a pair and state the obvious. Tell the truth. Don’t pussy foot around sniping like a little girl. Just say it. Super Bowl XXXVI was stolen from the Rams by the officials and by the Patriots. The fix was in. Your team knew it. They discussed it in the closed locker room after the game. You knew it.
Even worse you put up with all the shit over the years about how you didn’t rush Faulk enough or change your approach on defense to mug WRs like the Patriots did or giving the game away by playing a prevent defense. Everyone watched Tuck Rule Terrific Brady lead the so called heroic winning drive to end the game but only did so by committing a flagrant intentional grounding penalty that would have ended that drive and secured the Rams the opportunity to win. Yet you remain silent. The world watched while Warner gets mauled but no penalty called and you stay silent. With only a week to prepare for the Super Bowl because of the lost week of football because of 9/11 the play you designed specifically for the Super Bowl and only practiced that week in the Super Dome the Patriots had it defensed perfectly. Yet you remain silent.
Your silence at this point feeds the legacy that you were the reason the strongest Rams offense- your offense, a historic offense, only scored 17 points against a woefully inferior Patriots team. The loss cost you dearly. From pundits that expect you to play mindreader with officials who deliberately stifled your offense by not calling penalties to throat slashing front office types the end result is that it cost you your job. It cost you your chance at another head coaching position. Why won’t you stand up for yourself? For your legacy? For those guys in your locker room who knew they were robbed and who have had to endure over a decade of the word DYNASTY attached to the Patriots name. For those guys who watched the league office destroy evidence in Spygate and now know you aided the perps by writing that letter to Goodell that you claim was tampered with to head off a congressional investigation. That is all we get from you?
Your legacy without that Super Bowl win isn’t what you wanted. It isn’t what you or that team deserve. It isn’t up to anyone else but you. Somewhere in your Idaho redoubt I hope something stirs inside you to tackle your legacy by finally getting the gumption to say and mean, shoot I’ll fix that.
The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.
Sprinkles are for winners.
