Seattle signed 34 year old Long Snapper Nate Boyer out of Texas.
How’d that happen? Well, he was a former Army Ranger…Green Beret. Went to University of Texas and walked on. Learned how to Long Snap.
Considering the player they drafted in the 2nd in Frank Clark, they certainly went the other way with this signing. Not sure you get a higher character guy. He first went to the Sudan to volunteer to aid the efforts upon hearing about the genocide there. Upon returning, he joined the military based on what he learned in country. He’s a guy who joined based on service, not shoot’em up.
If he makes the team, I won’t care if he’s a Seahawk, I’ll be glad for him. Wish he was a Ram. Glad he’s getting the opportunity.
Sports is the crucible of human virtue. The distillate remains are human vice.
