    So as I was driving home from Boston yesterday, I caught the last 2 hrs of Mike Fracessa on 660 kHz WFAN NYC. He stated that he had heard from one of his NFL sources that Chip Kelly was putting together a plan to go up and get Mariota.

    It involved the Eagles sending Bradford to Cleveland. In return, the Eagles would get Cle’s 12th pick put would also have to take Manzel.

    The Eagles would then have the 12, the 19, and next year’s 1 to trade up with.

    Mike said it was fun to think about (Mariota, Manzel and Tebow as the Eagles QB’s), but he also thought there were too many moving parts for this to actually work.

    Personally, I think it would suck for Sam Bradford, and for that reason, hope it doesn’t happen.

    I think Bradford wants to hit the open market next year.

    I think you are right but I don’t think Bradford has much value in the FA market as a starter. And I doubt that a team (or Bradford) would sign him as a backup because that creates an immediate QB controversy.

    2015 NFL Draft rumors: Sam Bradford thinks the Eagles might trade him

    Even Sam Bradford, the guy the Eagles have insisted is in their future plans, believes the Eagles have a chance at Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota.

    With trade rumors flying as the 2015 NFL Draft inches closer, a report from Jason Cole of Bleacher Report states that Bradford, recently acquired by the Eagles, believes there is a chance he could be traded during the draft.

    Bradford doesn’t know where he’s going to be. Yes, he believes the Eagles are going to keep him at this point in time, trust them, but only so far because the [2015 NFL Draft] has not played out. So he believes there is still a possibility that he could be traded somewhere else. And if that’s the case, he wants to wait to see whether that’s a team he ultimately wants to stay with long-term.

    Bradford doesn’t know where he’s going to be. Yes, he believes the Eagles are going to keep him at this point in time, trust them, but only so far because the [2015 NFL Draft] has not played out.     Bradford’s lack of certainty about his future is apparently why he has yet to sign an extension with the team — that and the Eagles aren’t knocking down his door to do so.

    Per Cole:

    In talking to sources around the league and close to Bradford, basically what’s happened is Bradford is not willing to accept a substandard deal based on the injuries that he’s suffered the past two years and have kept him off the field.

    So what does this all mean?

    Bradford thinking he might get traded, and the fact that he hasn’t signed an extension with the Eagles, only adds more fuel to the fire that the Eagles do, in fact, intend on trading him.

    One possible trade that has been floated around league circles is a three-team deal in which the Eagles send Bradford to Cleveland for the 19th overall pick, and then flip that pick to the Tennessee Titans (along with No. 20, Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks) for the right to draft Mariota at No. 2 overall.

    Whether Mariota ultimately ends up on the Eagles remains to be seen, but the closer the draft gets, it sure seems like head coach Chip Kelly is gearing up for a fight to get him.

    After the Eagles surprisingly traded for quarterback Sam Bradford in March, coach Chip Kelly insisted that Bradford wasn’t a stepping stone toward getting up the board to reunite with Marcus Mariota. Since then, the Eagles have done nothing to take that possibility off the table.

    As PFT reported on Wednesday, no meaningful contract talks have occurred between the Eagles and Bradford, who is due to make $12.985 million in 2015, the final year of his pre-wage-scale rookie deal. The Eagles would like to knock down the cap number, and Bradford would like a chance to re-establish himself. While money is a factor, security is, too; Bradford wants any new deal would to ensure that he won’t be shipped to the Browns or elsewhere, especially since a multi-year contract would make Bradford more valuable to a team that would acquire his rights for more than one season.

    The absence of a true commitment to Bradford keeps the possibility of another trade in play. Recently, PFT laid out the pieces of a three-way deal that would put Bradford in Cleveland, Mariota (and possibly Johnny Manziel) in Philly, and multiple picks in the pocket of a team that trades out of the top five.

    The Eagles possibly could get there by giving up Bradford, the 20th pick in 2015, a first-round pick in 2016, and maybe another pick or two. Whether that amounts to mortgaging the future isn’t known.

    That said, why is a mortgage a bad thing? For most, it’s the only way to buy a house. For the Eagles, a mortgage for Mariota could not only buy a house but also eventually put a Lombardi Trophy in the case.

    I just don’t see a team making a long term commitment to Bradford until they see him have a productive healthy season after the last two years. I think Sam is kidding himself if he thinks that will happen. That doesn’t mean the Eagles are going to trade him–it just means they’re cautious.

    Still, the fact that the Eagles shops in the Philly area don’t carry Bradford jerseys may seem a bit odd. But maybe it’s nothing.

    It is my understanding that if the Eagles cut or trade Bradford that they Eagles would have no dead money. Bradford’s salary is of almost $13M is not guaranteed. (The Rams do have $3,595,000 in dead money because of the prorated signing bonus given to Bradford.) Also if Bradford is cut (not traded) by the Eagles the Rams also have to give the Eagles a 2016 3rd round draft choice.

    Eagles acquired Bradford to be their QB. No trade pawn. He’d only sign ext w Philly with no-trade clause. Wants to play for Chip & Shurmur

    NO. Snead put in the deal that the future compensation issue for Bradford’s health is off, if he is traded. We went through this before. We keep their 2cd round pick and we owe them nothing if he isn’t an Iggle.
