I don’t think so. I think that is one of their biggest downfalls. We always talk about how the Rams commit the same mistakes over and over again, but there isn’t anyone in the huddle to hold their feet to the fire. There is no one in the locker room willing to assume the alpha position. They need it desperately. But I don’t see it one the horizon. Maybe Aaron Donald will be that guy. But, honestly, I don’t see that role being filled any time soon.

Agreed.

I was ‘really‘ impressed with the Seahawks
and Patriots. The leadership, the guts, the professionalism,
the intelligence, the poise….Man.

I know the Rams can get to the “bengals-level” next
year. Ie., playoffs — but can they get to the
Seahawks/Patriots level?

One could argue they are close, as evidenced by the
wins over the Seahawks, but then those wins
are always followed by losses. And more losses.

I dunno. We’ll see.

i think chris long is a leader. i think laurinaitis is. we’ll see though. they’re young. i think that’s their biggest downfall right now.

and also they need a quarterback. and an offensive line.

I think Long and Laurinaitis are leaders by their example and how they go about their business. But they’re not the type to hold their teammates accountable or to challenge them to take the next step. They’re not vocal leaders who’ll call out those who make the same mistakes over and over again. They’re not the kind of leaders that will pull team together and convince them to play and fight for one another. Their type of leadership will only take a team like the Rams so far.

Jackson was that, I think.

I think Jackson was that. I think a personality like Jackson’s would go a long way on a team like the Rams. I’ve said many times that someone like Ray Lewis could make a real difference. Like him or hate him, he nurtured teammates and demanded focus and effort from them. These are areas that I think the Rams are very inconsistent in. It’s not something that is easy to find. Examples of this are few. I would tend to think that it will be a few seasons before we see anything like that in a Rams’ uniform. If then.

i think the biggest thing is laurinaitis and long while good are not great. rams need a player who is not only a leader but is also a great player. i don’t think it’s going to be quinn. doesn’t strike me as a leader type. i’m hoping donald can be that. he’s a lead by example type of guy. but also an elite talent. he sets the bar insanely high.

so basically what hpd says.

I agree with all that.

I think it’s a real issue…it’s not clear the Rams have a top leader type.

One hope is, Bradford stays healthy, and becomes that.
