M.Lynch doesn’t want to talk to the media. NFL says he will again be fined
if he doesn’t. Plus, they dont like him making obscene end-zone gestures.

Should an NFL player have to talk to the media?

I think they shouldn’t be allowed to talk to the media. Think of the hours and hours of boring interviews we would be spared from.

No. I wish they would ban all players from talking to the media. We’d all be better served, but the almighty dollar wouldn’t. So…

It’s all part of the corporate packaging of the game.

They don’t just want guys to play well, but they want SPOKESPEOPLE for the league.

Worse, if the player does anything to damage the league, they can be fined. So, they HAVE to do and say stuff to improve the league.

Sports is the crucible of human virtue. The distillate remains are human vice.

Yes, they should talk, unless a doctor says they have a social anxiety disorder. If you’re the NFL, you need the media. You let players clam up, and you reduce the number of happy story lines in the media and reduce exposure of your sport to the fans. You know, those reporters still have to fill copy … I think you’d rather have them doing that with little chitty-chatty stuff with the players than actually think and dig into substantive issues.

I’ve always been curious about how the media and the rams
go about choosing WHO is gonna talk — like, it always
seems like Chris Long and Laurinaitis get to talk a lot.
I dont see as much of the other players, but maybe
I’m wrong on that. I dunno.

Yeah, but there will always be people who WANT to talk, who want to be in front of the cameras.

A few Marshawn Lynches aside, the airwaves will still be full of guys “giving it 110% on the field, and taking it all one game at a time.”
