The Rams are extending OL Coleman Shelton on a 2-year deal.

Shelton had a void year in 2023 and controlled that void – his bet paid off knowing the Rams have been really high on him at C and G.

I would argue that Shelton’s non-flashy deal was the best the Rams did among their OL last offseason considering his relevance to the unit; we didn’t know about the void in the previous deal for quite some time. He is one of 2 UDFA finds who have carved a future here.

The Rams may be just clearing enough cap space to sign Chris Massey.

I was hoping for Madison “Hedgehog” Hedgecock.

This may be yet another McVay revolution. Strip the team of 99% of the roster, and then field three players on offense and defense. It would confuse the opposing coach so much they’d throw up their hands, walk off the field in a Sam Huff, and, essentially, forfeit. So the Rams would go 17 and 0, and cruise through the playoffs and win the Super Bowl via forfeit too.

This will only work for one season, though, of course. Eventually the Data crunchers will figure it all out, and use their ChatGen7.0 to rewrite the rules. But the Rams will win one more for the Flipper.

Wagner on the market got 7 million. Rams were about to pay Wagner 11 million 2024, 10.5 in 2024, 11 in 2025. Rams realized they overpaid and tried to get Wagner to take less, so the rams corrected their mistake by cutting him.
    .
a portion of his 2024 salary became guaranteed if he remained on the rams past the 3rd day of the new season. Like JourdanRodrigue said, it’s about 2024.

Handful of Rams have signed a 1-year deal with a new team this offseason, including: Greg Gaines (Bucs), Baker Mayfield (Bucs) Brandon Powell (Vikes), David Edwards (Bills), Bobby Wagner (Seahawks), David Long (Raiders) and now Taylor Rapp (Bills).

from PFF: Favorite, least favorite free agency moves for all 32 NFL teams

    https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-favorite-least-favorite-free-agency-moves-for-all-32-nfl-teams#LAR

    LOS ANGELES RAMS

Favorite: Not pushing dead cap into 2024

The Rams could have delayed the inevitable and attempted to run it back in 2023 with a deficient roster, but they instead decided to bite the bullet and jumpstart a rebuild. They deserve credit for not pushing any dead cap into 2024 with post-June 1 designations, choosing to turn the page as quickly as possible.

Least favorite: Return value in trade of cornerback Jalen Ramsey

Ramsey’s 90.6 coverage grade over the past three seasons ranks second among cornerbacks, and his 91.2 run-defense grade ranks first. His 80.3 coverage grade from the slot over the past three seasons ranks fifth. With the level of talent all over this Dolphins’ defense, Ramsey can have a very specific role that caters exactly to what he does best.

Los Angeles (smartly) not retaining any salary on Ramsey drove the price down here a bit, and you lose some leverage when it becomes very obvious a breakup is inevitable, but it’s still tough to trade away an elite talent like Ramsey for very little return.
