Dick Vermeil got into the Hall Of Fame with one Super Bowl win,

    and one Super Bowl loss.

Do we know any other coach with that kind of record?

    Here’s what Vermeil also did.

He took 3 losing teams and turned all 3 into playoff teams.

McVay in contrast inherited a lot of talent. In 2017, he had way way more talent than Vermeil did in 97 with the Rams, or initially with either the Eagles or the Chiefs.

Bearing in mind that a couple of those seasons was back when there were 14 games, in all 3 cases combined, rebuilding from scratch meant 2 years each of non-winning records. His first 6 years combined from all 3 teams average out to a 5.4/10 record.

I like McVay. He and Vermeil are obviously the top 2 coaches since I started following the Rams. But McVay’s record, so far, does not include losing years from a rebuild. Even Demoff openly said in 2017 that they were not in a rebuild.

    It’s just a factor.

    All true.

But for me, DV is maybe a ‘borderline’ Hall of Famer.   I just dont know if i would have voted for him.   I dunno.

Well, I know how I would vote if… uh… we were on an island and this was Survivor.
