Floyd, who is working on the side during practices, confirmed Wednesday that he had offseason surgery to fix a right ankle injury he suffered in last summer’s training camp. Floyd, who had 11 1/2 sacks in 2021 (including playoffs), managed the painful injury through the entirety of last season.
“I battled through the whole season, and I got it cleaned up and I’ll be good to go this season,” Floyd said. “It’s a tough injury, it was days where after practice I wouldn’t be able to really walk around the house. But you have to sacrifice if you want to win; we probably wouldn’t have gotten a Super Bowl if I didn’t play. It was part of the sacrifice and I’m glad I did it.”
June 2, 2022 at 6:28 am #139136znModeratorThe secondary intrigues me the most. Fuller bounce back after surgery? Nick Scott vs Rapp?
Jourdan Rodrigue
Sounds like Fuller’s progress is going really well. I think it’s he and Scott with more three safety looks this year.June 3, 2022 at 3:47 am #139143znModeratorConnor Hox@connor_hoxPer source regarding OBJ and the @RamsNFL: “OBJ contact says the Browns also offered him a contract that’s supposedly more than the Rams offered, but he thinks he signs his Rams deal this month, stating ‘You can’t pay Odell to not be a Ram.”.Stu Jackson@StuJRams
In mentoring Rams LB Ernest Jones, Bobby Wagner mentioned putting himself back into Year 2 of his career and what he would’ve wanted someone to teach him. To that end, he’s making a point to help Jones learn to slow the game down and not waste steps/movement.Wagner said as you get older, you realize there’s a lot of wasted movement. He doesn’t waste steps when it comes to processing the game. So if he only needs to take 2 steps, he’ll only take 2 instead of 6, for example.
“You want your mind to be fast, your body to be slow.”
*realize there’s wasted movement because as a first- or second-year player, you feel like you need to get everywhere fast, to be specific.

i think the organization realizes the window is rapidly closing. and they might not get another opportunity like this for a long time. i think it’s a sound strategy even though you might be paying for it down the road.

I don’t know, invader, I mean they have a window as long as Stafford can play. Having Donald at the same time, it’s not a window so much as an entire open barn door. But even without Donald, Stafford puts them in the running. I figure MS is good for another 3-4 years (though maybe that’s what you meant by the window closing…I tend to think of 3-4 years as being a more sustained thing than what the phrase “window closing” means, or that’s how I take it anyway).
I am not sure they so much loaded up this year as they just did their off-season thing, which is basically to load up every year. Just a bit differently each time.
Anyway. In terms of being Rams fans…this is the era we always dreamed of. More so than 99 because as great as that was, there were flaws in the system (Shaw, Zygmunt, consecutive years of bad personnel decision making. In fact I will say something that will cause all true Rams fans to scream in horror: a couple of months after the super bowl win, they draft Canidate, Shepherd, and St. Clair 1 2 3).
June 7, 2022 at 1:44 am #139193ZooeyModeratorThe Rams had the significant Good Fortune to draft Aaron Donald at #13. They didn’t just get a standard-issue Hall of Fame great player. They got one of the best players who ever lived in a position to affect every down. Run or pass, Donald is a factor. That makes him more important than Jalen Ramsey. Donald is SO dominant that the Bengals changed their offensive strategy away from their strength as an offense, away from the very thing that got them to the Super Bowl in the first place. Donald is SO good that he wrecked the Bengals before anybody even arrived at the stadium. So that’s just Good Fortune, and you can’t count on the Rams doing that again.
But what we can count on, imo, is that the Rams will continue to make all the other decisions that got a lot of blue chip and red chip players into the squad. Drafting, UDFA, trades, and FA. They even have had the wisdom to let some very good players go when they had opportunities that created value. Remember this is a team that traded Quinn and Woods. They parted ways with Talib, Peters, Watkins, Suh, T. Johnson, EJ Gaines, J. Johnson, Ogletree, and so on. My point is that the Rams have churned the roster in addition to drafting well. They’ve clearly got a handle on drafting late, and maximizing compensatory picks, and putting the right pieces together. The track record of roster building has been consistently good for long enough that we know they didn’t just get lucky. They maybe got a little “lucky” with Donald. But the rest of the wheeling and dealing has just been consistently good. At this point, they have earned my trust. I think they can keep that window open quite a while. (I don’t understand the Robinson over Woods move, but I have a feeling I will understand it by Week 10).
Looks to me like these guys know what they are doing.

that is what i was thinking. four years at the most. three years is when donald’s current contract could run out. possibly one year after that with some luck?
like zooey said the rams really lucked out with donald. not just your standard run of the mill hall of famer. we’re talking about an all time great. the discussion with him will not be his hall of fame credentials. it’s obvious to everyone that he’s a hall of famer. the discussion will be his credentials as they compare across generations and across different positions.
the rams realize this. any discussion of his demands being too much or unrealistic. i think it’s shortsighted. and while i think winning more superbowls is important, it is almost as important that donald fully flesh out his career in a rams uniform. eight years would have been enough. but eleven years and possibly one more superbowl mixed in? that’s a legacy that will last for generations. more than any player from the gsot era. even bruce.
because right or wrong that’s what will win fans’ hearts. los angeles is full of them. the rams need someone to hold that torch.
matt stafford can’t do that for this team. too much of his legacy is tied to the lions. coop? as much as i love him his talent is not transcendent. he’s only really had one great season. ramsey possibly? but donald unquestionably.
they had to bring him back.
