    Came across a dvd with season 1 and 2 of the UK series ‘Shameless’.

    (apparently there’s a US-showtime version, as well)

     

    It purty good.   It walks an interesting line.   Every time it starts looking like it will be smarmy, it veers away.    But almost, every time it starts going dark, it

    veers away.

     

    There’s a touch of working-class consciousness in it as well.  Not nearly as much as I’d like to see, but a gazillion times more than any US show I can think of.
