One narrative I’ve heard (and which holds up for me) is that earlier in the season, McV dropped all the motion, play action, jet sweeps, and stuff, and basically just relied on Stafford throwing the ball. Then of course some of the Rams worst losses came when the OL couldn’t hold up against a strong DL. I think that after those losses, McV went back to a lot of his previous offensive habits and starting relying more on play action and those general kinds of Goff-Rams type plays.
OBJ and Miller were big too. Morris settling in and getting a better command of the D also helped. Relying more on Michel helped.
On Michel. The 3 losses in a row were games 9 through 11. From game 1 to 11, Michel had 79 carries for the season, or about 11 per game (but more often than not less that 11). In games 12-17, he had 129 carries, or 21.5 carries per game. So he basically doubled his run load.
