i think it’s great that the rams rank 6th in fewest sacks allowed, but it’s no accident nor is it indication that the oline has been great in pass pro…. the rams have played small ball in the passing game this year, the name of the game has been quick short throws, get the ball out of goff’s hands as quickly as possible, in order to protect goff – goff currently ranks 29th in average depth of intended pass (i.e. average depth for both completed and incomplete passes) and 25th in depth of completed pass… and when the rams don’t throw short, more often than not their passes are quick one-read throws such as this (a beautiful, perfectly executed pass by the way):
speaking of the oline, noteboom did ok covering for whit altho much of his time on the field was pretty uneventful… the rams ran the ball 14 times once noteboom took over, but only 3 times to the left side for 4 yards (5, 3, -4), and they didn’t run to the left side until the final non-kneel drive of the game… in pass pro he was ok, got beat pretty badly on an inside rush that dropped goff, and was stood up / out-leveraged a few times by dunlap, but overall he did ok imo…. my guess is he’ll get ribbed in the film room over this play, or chewed out, it happened on the second drive he played, talk about a little slow out of the gate!
