znModeratorI’m told that Garoppolo is better than Goff.
So there’s nothing to discuss I guess.

wvParticipantI like the 49ers uniforms. They didnt screw around with their tradition.
The Rams blue-jersey-blue-pants uniforms may very well be the worst uniforms since the Swiss Guard:

===========As far as the game, I dunno. I know the Rams are solid, but the NFC East has been so bad, its hard to say whether the Rams are a ten-win team or a Division Champ type team.

ZooeyModeratorThis is Do-or-Die for the 9ers.
Backs against the wall.
That kind of thing.
If they lose, they are Done.
Looks like they are Done anyway. But if they lose this game, it is Over Over.
The radio in NoCal has been eulogizing the 9ers for a month.
The time has come to strike the finishing blow. That much is certain.

nittany ramModeratorThis would seemingly present a conflict with the Rams having announced (preseason) their plan to wear Bone… https://t.co/1B5y8pzQLC

YES!!
Regarding the game, I believe the Niners have enough weapons on offense to expose the Rams LBs in the short passing game. No idea what that will mean for the final result though.

znModerator9ers are still 5th on defense. Expecially solid against the run (7th in ypa allowed). 3rd against the pass and 3rd in pressure percentage. That’s all pretty formidible.
But they are 21st on offense, 20th in passing yards and although 6th in yards per attempt rushing are 19th in rushing. They get outscored in the 2nd half and particularly in the 4th quarter.
This is a game that tests 2 things.
1. Rams OL. Yes again but also obviously.
2. Staley’s 2nd half defensive adjustments. Let’s see if they work against a determined and well-coached division rival. So it has the makings of a tough close game.
My prediction: Rams 55, SF 3.

Well, a Portugal fan would say all that.

wvParticipantI realized the other day, that i know the EXACT date i became a Ram fan. December 8, 1968. That is the day my dad and i watched the Rams play the Brian Piccolo Bears on TV. Rams lost 17-16. Loved the Horns on black and white TV.
So, after that game, I started paying a ‘little’ attention to pro football and i started looking to see how the Rams were doing. They lost to the Unitas Colts the next week 28-24. Finished 10-3-1. Out of the playoffs.
The first 49er-Ram game I was aware of was in October of 1969. (I didnt even know who all the teams were in the NFL at that point)
George Allen’s Rams won 27-21, over John Brodie. That was the year they started 11-0, of course.
That was the year the dark and dreary Viking-Curse began. The 49er rivalry seems more intense back then. I could be wrong, but thats how it seems.

going forward, they are going to have to be much sharper and much more consistent on offense. The last two weeks, albeit against two lousy football teams, the defense has averaged allowing 202 total yards and 9.5 points. San Francisco, banged up or not, will be their first true test. Division opponent. Arch rival (you can throw out the records, etc). Defending NFC Champions. McVay vs. Shanahan. Prime time. This game is huge and they need a complete game on both sides of the ball.

nittany ramModeratorThis is a must win for the 9ers. Their entire season rests on this game. Lose this game and they’re 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the toughest division in football.
As much as it pains me to say this, especially knowing that it will put a smile on wv’s face, I think the 9ers are going to win a close, ugly, game.

TSRFParticipantI want to see a Rams win. I’m smoking a pork shoulder (the only reason I’m up so damn early; it is currently 33 F, and I may witness our first frost event), and will probably nap during the 4PM game.
I’ll be ready. I hope the Rams are too.
BTW, I think McVay has a little brother syndrome with Shanahan. Gotta nip that in the bud right here.
