from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2020/08/31/rams-running-backs-akers-brown-henderson-committee/
Akers and Brown have been working the most with the first-team offense, especially now that Henderson is rehabbing a hamstring injury, but there’s no definitive starter.
Rams running backs coach Thomas Brown would … would prefer to have one running back getting most of the carries – a “clear-cut guy,” as he put it.
“I think it’s whatever helps up win a football game,” Brown told reporters last week when asked how the running back situation will work out. “I think every single situation’s going to be different. Obviously, I think you’d prefer to have a clear-cut guy to take the majority of reps and having certain guys that have a role in that offense, but I think it’s all about how those guys continue to develop and what they do well for us offensively and what can help us win football games.”

Looks like the Ram’s players chose to wear the Bone Uniforms in the opener. Dallas doesn’t like to wear their Blue uniforms. jinxed or something
So I’m guessing it has more to do with making the Cowboys wear their blue uniforms , then the Rams wearing their Bone
lets see what they wear for their second home game

• Micah Kiser and Travin Howard seem to be locks to start at inside linebacker (when the defense runs a scheme that requires two). But only one player can get the headset microphone that communicates all things with Staley during games, so this is where the more interesting competition at the position lies. So far, the two Mike linebackers have been rotating with the mic.

Objectively now, we have data from nearly 3 weeks of padded practices in the NFL, a month of camp at some colleges, and games starting in HS and college … is there any evidence the sport is the super-spreader of COVID-19 some are positioning it to be?Doesn’t seem that way.
And again, I’m not arguing that the virus is non-existent in football. And I was skeptical at first, too. All I’m saying is the idea that the sport of football would be totally impossible amid all of this hasn’t held up so far.
That could change. But that’s where we are.

Well…I wouldn’t think it likely people would get it DURING a game. It’s what they do elsewhere, and in the locker rooms and meeting rooms where the risk is greatest. I would think.

Well I think he has in mind the entire environment of the sport, including meetings and locker rooms. After all he does know not a single game has been played yet. So he’s not talking about games.
August 31, 2020 at 2:59 pm #120232znModeratorIt's been 3 days since a report that the Rams and Jalen Ramsey are "not close" on a new deal.
Reminder that 3 days before George Kittle's contract announcement, Mike Silver (who also co-reported the announcement) said "progress has been minimal" https://t.co/EJK2itZEoq

I love what @McClain_on_NFL shared, below and I laughed as I read it and recalled what coaches did to “protect secrets” – a few times I noted that Maxwell Smart and Harriet The Spy would be impressed – they were not impressed with that observation.Russell Lande@RUSSLANDE
I remember the head of personnel for Rams was paranoid about this and Coach Vermeil and Jack Faulkner used to brush off his concerns. They would consistently say that once we play the first game all the “secrets” will be out there and that nothing they were doing was new to NFL.August 31, 2020 at 3:03 pm #120234znModeratorHe’s nailed Mahomes, Marlon Humphrey, & Danielle Hunter in recent years.
This is @PSchrags' Top 10 Breakout Players of 2020.
Let's start with 6-10
10. Cardinals TE Dan Arnold
9. Jaguars DE Josh Allen
8. Ravens S Chuck Clark
7. Bills RB Zack Moss
6. Rams WR Van Jefferson pic.twitter.com/BcEcMscCbu— GMFB (@gmfb) August 31, 2020

Schrager, from https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2020/08/31/rams-van-jefferson-breakout-player-2020-schrager/
“You’re saying, ‘What about Kupp? And what about Woods? And what about Reynolds?’ Let’s just say this: The comparison I have been hearing for Van Jefferson is not Odell Beckham, it’s not Julio Jones. It is a technician. It is Keenan Allen. That is the comparison I am hearing out of Rams world on Van Jefferson,” Schrager said on Good Morning Football.
Schrager said Jefferson has “been putting on a show all summer long” for the Rams, continuing to prop up the rookie out of Florida. A breakout season might be hard to see happening because of the depth the Rams already have at wide receiver, but Jefferson has the makings of a quality (and versatile) wide receiver in the NFL.

Rapoport on Kupp injury
Kupp has a muscle strain on the side of the lower part of his leg right above the foot. And should be fine for the opener.

J.B. Long@JB_Long
McVay @RamsNFL Summary▶️WR Kupp: Preexisting ankle soreness. Does NOT have sprain, as reported. X-rays negative.
▶️RB Henderson: Not ready to practice yet.
▶️Kicker: Ongoing competition, will use remaining practices.
▶️OLB Floyd & OT Havenstein: “double thumbs up” in camp.==
August 31, 2020 at 7:42 pm #120248znModeratorfrom https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2020/08/31/rams-power-rankings-dvoa-analytics/
Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire … slotted teams from No. 1 to 32 based on Football Outsiders’ widely used DVOA metric, which measures a team’s performance on every single play compared to league-average based on specific situations.
In Farrar’s DVOA-based power rankings, the Rams came in at No. 13 with a projected 3.2% DVOA and average wins of 8.4.
Who knows what the Rams are these days? They could be the 13-3 squad that made it to Super Bowl LIII at the end of the 2018 season, or they could be the 2019 team that finished 9-7, out of the playoffs. FO thinks the 2020 Rams will be more like the 2019 Rams, and I find it difficult to disagree. Teams that drop from an offensive DVOA of over 20% to under 5% in a one-season stretch don’t tend to revert to their best form, and Jared Goff’s obvious limitations could put a pin in that. FO has the Rams projected with a total DVOA of 3.2%, and an Average Wins total of 8.4.

well. if the oline and the running game can get going. and if van jefferson is the real deal. the offense should be back on track.

this shouldn’t be a surprise to us. the rams just have a knack for finding defensive backs.
and assuming burgess pans out as well. and so far it seems to be going in that direction. do the rams re-sign john johnson? i love johnson, but there’s only so much cap space to go around.

Burgess comes in as a third-round pick out of Utah, providing excellent position versatility and instincts in the defensive backfield. He only has one year of starting experience under his belt, but he played all over the field last season for the Utes, lining up everywhere from outside corner to linebacker.
this probably has been posted before. but shoot. this has me curious.
can’t wait to see this defense – especially the secondary. with all the talk about ramsey and him playing multiple roles. burgess and his versatility. i’m guessing burgess starts at the beginning of the season with rapp still out.

McVay on Havenstein: he was working through some different things and he’s so tough that he persevered through some stuff that was bothering him early on in the season.
Which might explain a lot.
September 1, 2020 at 12:45 am #120261ZooeyModeratorI don’t expect much from Jefferson, but I’m willing to be surprised. He’s a rookie, and none of the rookies got their full off-season education, so hopes are limited. He does appear to be more pro-ready than the avg rookie, though. But..still.
Give me a solid OL, and I will take my chances this season.

He is, though, the son of a guy who was both a former NFL receiver then an NFL WR coach. So maybe he gets into Kupp territory. As a rookie, Kupp had 62 receptions for 860+ yards.

Right, yeah. And we would take that in a heartbeat, and maybe we will get it. Kupp had OTAs and so on, of course. But Jefferson seems to be ahead of the curve in technique, if not the speed of the game and complex NFL schemes, etc. So…I look forward to pummeling Dallas, and may Jefferson shine.

With the new expanded playoffs this season, it will be possible for all four teams in a single division to make it to the postseason. The two divisions I think have the best chance this year reside in the West. What do you think?==

Someone to keep an eye on especially after Travin Howard injury news: South Dakota State UDFA linebacker Christian Rozeboom, who has gotten in with the twos rotation against the ones in team work today.ILB Clay Johnston also made a big play today, breaking up a short pass in coverage across the middle.
Rams working situational team period, start backed way up in own end zone. Jared Goff connects on a long throw to TE Gerald Everett to get O out of trouble, who does a nice job against his coverage to secure the catch. Goff went to Everett again later in the series

hopefully the rams don’t need jefferson to be that. higbee and everett should have a bigger role as well.
but yeah. sounds like he could have a kupp like rookie season. he’s also older than your typical rookie so you’d guess he’s got a maturity that most rookies lack.
