Crazy that me choosing my family’s wellbeing over a game comes with so called fans attacking and questioning me and saying I’m selfish. No you guys are selfish for thinking that football is bigger than life. Oh by the way my girl’s grandfather passed from COVID. U understand now?Howard Balzer@HBalzer721
Teams with no Reserve/COVID players: ARIZ, CARO, HOUS, LAC, NE, SEA. Teams with none now that had at least one: BLT, CHI, CIN, NYG, SF. Three teams with no opt-outs: ATL, LAC, PITTWow. Just looking at the chart I’m keeping of reserve/COVID-19 cases, and realized that 30 players have been on the list for at least 8 days. Ten of those have been on for at least 10 days. Player with most is Dallas WR Jon’Vea Johnson with 12.

Shout out to the critical thinkers: I recall being a teen and seeing an interview where Priest Holmes was talking about his love for the game of chess. After that interview, my boys and I never stop playing.—

August 7, 2020 at 6:20 pm #119000znModeratorIt can’t be underestimated how much of a challenge this season will be for players that have changed teams/systems, even the great Tom Brady. It will give a significant advantage to teams with continuity and familiarity. https://t.co/TXNHRlRaWh

No other Rams opt out of 2020 season as deadline passesAccording to the NFL’s official transactions wire, Chandler Brewer was the only Rams player to opt out before Thursday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline.
The Rams currently only have one player on the reserve/COVID-19 list, too. Rookie Terrell Lewis was placed on it last week and has yet to be activated. Defensive lineman Michael Hoecht was also added to the reserve list but was activated a few days later.

Taylor Rapp
Los Angeles Rams · SThe league’s next great safety could play in horns if Rapp builds upon his impressive rookie season. He burst on the scene as quite the playmaker in 2019, with 90 tackles, eight passes defensed and a pair of picks (with one returned for a touchdown). Rapp’s instincts, aggressiveness and versatility could lead to a prominent role as a utility player on the second level. As a designated box-area defender, the 2019 second-round pick could make an impact as a sideline-to-sideline run supporter or as a lurker swiping passes between the hashes. With new defensive coordinator Brandon Staley intent on employing a multi-dimensional scheme with defenders aligning in random alignments within various packages, Rapp could become an all-star defender while serving as the Rams’ jack-of-all-trades.

The teams that have done the best job of having drafted players stick in the league through this summer are the colts (67% more than expected), Falcons (52%), Bears (39%). Rams (37%), Chargers (28%)August 9, 2020 at 4:36 am #119042znModeratorJason_OTC@Jason_OTC
Doing some draft research from 2016-2019. Raiders, Jets, and Browns stand out for the wrong reasons. Raiders have 27.4% less 16-19 drafted players on their roster than expected. Jets have 27% less and the Browns are at 25.3% underwater. The top teams with more picks than expected on the roster are the Chargers (31%), Rams (24%), “Football Team”(21%), Falcons (19%) and Eagles (18%)
Raiders draft picks should have led to 6 players not under contract anywhere but they have 11 out of the league. Bills and Jets are both close for 2nd worst both around 50% more than expected who are out of the NFL

when it comes to decision making skills, leadership, toughness, intelligence, clutchness… i think it’s too early to tell. either way.
but as far as arm talent. he’s something else.

Austin Blythe on the #RamsCamp Virtual Tailgate says “everything’s been pretty much seamless” for OL going through walkthroughs during the acclimation period. Been able to fast-track installs, now it’s about fine-tuning communication. Blythe says continuity will help w/ that.CB Jalen Ramsey on the #RamsCamp Virtual Tailgate, on playing full season w/ John Johnson, Taylor Rapp, Troy Hill, etc.:
“It’s super exciting, to be honest. When I first got traded out here last October, everybody was telling me, ‘Man, I wish you could’ve played with JJ.'”
Ramsey: “Everybody was telling me how exciting of a player [JJ] was to play with, the energy and the passion he brings to the game. So I’m finally able to experience a little bit of it, even if we’re just in walkthroughs right now. I know it’s going to turn up when it’s game time.”
On the #RamsCamp Virtual Tailgate, Rams QB Jared Goff says his goal is to have three 1,000-yard pass-catchers this season.
Andrew Whitworth on the #RamsCamp Virtual Tailgate, talking about setting an example for younger players:
“Even at Year 15 (in the NFL), my appreciation and dedication to the game remains the same, and hopefully that gives them something to inspire them to be that way as well.”
On the #RamsCamp Virtual Tailgate, LS Jake McQuaide says new special teams coordinator John Bonamego “has that same attention to detail that we’re used to.”
McQuaide also mentioned Bonamego’s experience (coaching career began in 1987 at Mt. Pleasant (Mich.) High): “He’s been around the block, at every level. You can tell when he gets in front of the room, he knows how to run the room. He has that command.”
Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigue
On the Rams virtual tailgate chat when the defense came up, it was mentioned that Aaron Donald isn’t feeling well; before anyone panics am told it’s not believed to be COVID-related or anything like thatSteve Wyche@wyche89
Rams Coach Sean McVay, with a smile, said WR Cooper Kupp has served as the emergency QB in the past, but rookie RB Cam Akers, a former QB might be in the mix: “Watching what he can do, he is very capable. He hasn’t been shy about letting me know that he can still spin it.”Stu Jackson@StuJRams
@RamsNFL head coach Sean McVay said Andrew Whitworth and Brian Allen haven’t had any lingering effects from testing positive for COVID-19 this offseason. They’ve been able to participate in the current acclimation period without any restrictions.“They’re in good shape.”
Sean McVay says OLB Terrell Lewis is also back in the building today.
McVay said Lewis will be able to get back to “full action” if he stays asymptomatic the next three days. That’s based on the NFL’s updated policy.

ICYMI Rams CB Jalen Ramsey is more than acornerback. “There’s a vision and goal to use to him in a way that’s never been used before.”Stu Jackson@StuJRams
Malcolm Brown on new Rams RBs coach Thomas Brown:“He’s a great dude. You can tell his intensity right off the bat, his focus on the details of the game. His addition to our staff has been amazing.”
PFF LA Rams@PFF_Rams
Robert Woods has had the 6th-highest number of explosive plays (15+ yards) since joining the #LARams in 2017Woods has thrived in his three years with the Rams, earning the 11th-best receiving grade at the position since 2017. He has dropped just seven of his 259 catchable targets in that span, though the best thing he brings to the table is his route-running. He generates an exceptional rate of separation, and that’s helped him pick up the sixth-most explosive plays of 15-plus yards since 2017 (86). Woods has been a consistently great receiving option for the Rams, and that should continue in 2020.
