Rams chat with Jim Thomas
http://live.stltoday.com/Event/Rams_chat_with_Jim_Thomas_63?Page=4
Hi Jim, This season is for all intents and purposes over which is why I am not calling for Shaun Hill. That being said, if we were in the NFC South, do you think a QB change would be in order. Also, i think he is sticking with Davis to groom as a backup. Bring in Bradford (on a severely reduced contract), Hill, Davis and a Rookie next year and let them battle it out.
by SteveSPN 2:01 PMI guess your thought process being that in the NFC South you are still in contention at 3-6, so make the change? I guess that makes sense. Your plans for the future also makes sense to me. Re-sign Bradford to a reduced deal w/incentives (I don’t know about “severely” reduced) and bring back Davis and draft a QB high.
by jthomas 2:05 PMHow likely do you think it is for Bradford to willingly restructure his contract to allow the Rams to bring him back? I seriously doubt the team will bring him back under his current deal given his injury history, but after seeing Davis against Arizona, I think Bradford deserves one more chance to stay healthy (although I’d still draft a QB somewhat early as insurance.)
by Disappointed Fan 2:08PMI don’t think Bradford is hung up much on the money aspect. He is after all, set for life. So personally I don’t think a fair restructure is an issue with Sam. But the agent may be another matter.
by jthomas 2:09PMWhat are you percentages Rams stay in St. Lou with most recent information we have learned?
by matt 2:09PMI’m downgrading a little to 50-50. A basic tossup.
by jthomas 2:10PMHas Schotty ever called a power sweep? I cannot ever recall seeing our tailback sweep the end.
by Hank 2:11PMLooked to me like the Rams ran a lot of stretch plays, and Mason got the edge a few times, including some where he bounced plays outside.
by jthomas 2:13PMDid you ever get to ask Shotty why Tavon does not go long?
by tom 2:13PMWe have asked Schotty just about every question imaginable regarding Tavon Austin.
by jthomas 2:14PMWouldn’t Tavon look good sweeping end?
by Hank 2:14PMYou mean like he did for that 10-yard gain to set up the Rams’ first touchdown?
by jthomas 2:14PMHe said toss not stretch there’s a difference
by Star Stream 2:16PMThe Rams did try a couple of toss plays with Mason Sunday.
by jthomas 2:16PMIs Davis’s arm that weak or is his footwork bad causing him to throw without using his legs?
by Carolina Ram 2:17PMI always thought that Davis had average arm strength, but he was very successful on deep throws early in the season. Just not as accurate lately.
by jthomas 2:18PMJim: The pick six that was the beginning of the end Sunday HIT BRITT ON THE HANDS. I don’t think it is right to blame that on Davis (And I am not his father). What do you think?
by niklouse 2:18PMAs I mentioned on-line and in print it was a high throw, but a catchable throw.
by jthomas 2:19PMWhy has there never been an attempt to use Tavon Austin as a traditional WR ?
by RamsFail 2:19PMBecause he’s not a traditional WR. He’s a space player. A loose-play player. Someone you use in space. And have him use his quickness to make people miss.
by jthomas 2:21PMIf the Rams go back to the West Coast, will you continue to cover the team for the STL fans?
by Orange County 2:21PMI don’t think the St. Louis Post-Dispatch would have a beat writer for the Los Angeles Rams.
by jthomas 2:21PMi have been impressed with the rams’ behavior this season vs the 49’ers, seahawks, and cardinals. in years past, they tried to bully these teams and be tough which led to stupid personal foul penalties, ejections, etc. this year, they were much more under control and still played physical football. so much less frustrating!
by steve 2:22PMInteresting part. I think Fisher got his point across when he released Ray Ray Armstrong.
by jthomas 2:23PMFisher should know by know that Schotty is the problem Just look at Sanchez In Philly We have a stout Defense please get An OC who know’s football
by Star Stream 2:23PMReally? So after one game we’re declaring Sanchez the best quarterback since Unitas? OK.
by jthomas 2:24PMAfter giving up a 4 and 6 round draft pick for a box safety do you think we still need to invest a draft pick on a cover safety or is Rodney Mcleod the answer back there. bad mistake on Sunday by Mcleod.
by ramsfan 2:25PMI haven’t seen the coaches film on the Arizona TD to Brown. McLeod is much-improved from where he was a year ago at this time. Is that good enough over the long haul? To be determined.
by jthomas 2:26PMMy question hasn’t much traction on this forum because there is nothing that can be done about it. What does it take to have the NFL assign decent officials to Rams games? Isn’t this now the third game where a bad call has taken away Rams momentum and effected the outcome of a game? Let the players decide the game. Secondly, why weren’t the Cardinals flagged for offensive holding? There was plenty of opportunity with all the holding on Rams defensive ends.
by DesparateDave 2:26PMI had not heard of this referee before (Ron Torbert). The Rams don’t seem to get nearly has many holding calls against their pass rush, I will agree with that. That call on Kendricks could have gone either way. I just think the way the rules are written there is simply too much interpretation involved in making calls.
by jthomas 2:29PMJim how can the nfl let the Rams leave after the way we have supported the even with bad football we have supported them better than la ever will
by Billy 2:30PMThere are a lot of things about a proposed move to LA that don’t make sense to me at this point. For one, it looks like the state and region are making a serious effort to build a new stadium. How can you allow a team to leave while this is going on?
by jthomas 2:32PMIn reference to McLeod play, Fischer stated that he should have been back in coverage and that he was surprised the qb even threw in that direction based on the coverage.
by ramsfan 2:33PMWhen did Fisher say that?
by jthomas 2:34PMMr. Thomas, I see you revised to 50/50 on the team stay/move. Can you share any of the new information you may have heard or uncovered in your reporting duties?
by JR 2:34PMWell, part of it is simply the fact that Kroenke met with the mayor of Inglewood last week. I don’t think they were talking about Clayton Kershaw’s postseason woes. There is some other stuff from sources that I’d rather not get into at this point.
by jthomas 2:37PMI just find it odd that a guy that worked hard to get football back to St. Louis would yank the team away from St. Louis the first chance he gets.
by AB3 2:38PMIt’s a business deal, and a chance to make more money.
by jthomas 2:38PMHave you any idea if Stan Kroenke is equally silent and unseen with regard to his other sports franchises? Or, are we just blessed in STL? I think 95% of the anxiety people feel about a possible move out of STL is caused by this guy’s behavior.
by Steve 2:39PMStan doesn’t give many interviews to anyone.
by jthomas 2:39PMWhoops, always forget to avoid the “enter” key. First off, thanks as always for the chats. If the Rams move, any chance we end up with another team (the Jags?) down the line or, given that it’d be two strikes, is the NFL dead here for good?
by Ben 2:40PMI’d say the NFL would be pretty dead here.
by jthomas 2:40PMAs an LA resident, the Inglewood location is likely not going to happen. LA wants a stadium elsewhere, and it will not happen for some time. It could be a trick for negotiation in ST Louis. People here would be surprised if Inglewood became the location. Long shot. Your 50/50, if based on Inglewood, is too optimistic about the move.
by David b 2:40PMI don’t really have a comment here, but just thought I’d pass this person’s thoughts along.
by jthomas 2:41PMBased on past experience and with dealing with the NFL St. Louis Rams fans need to assume that Silent Stan is going to move to a larger market. Financially, over the long haul, it is to his benefit and that greed is the motivator. Now Stan needs more money like a fat man needs more carbs. I, for one, was happy when Stanley Enos bought the Rams, never concerning myself that he’d play the game this way. My bad! It is obvious that the Rams are nothing more than chump change to him. He needs to either speak out one way or the other. He owes it to his fan base, either in St. Louis or LA.
by DesparateDave 2:41PMIt would be nice to hear something from Kroenke. I don’t know what else to tell you.
by jthomas 2:42PMHow can a guy like Austin Davis go from so promising to such a dud? I’m far from giving up on him, but he has looked completely out of his element during stretches of the past three games.
by Phil 2:43PMHe’s no dud. But part of the reason for the struggles, as I wrote about last week, is that the Rams have played four top 10 defenses in the past five games. They will play another top 10 defense this week in Denver.
by jthomas 2:44PMIs there anything u can tell us to give us hope that they stay
by Billy 2:44PMSure, if the NFL simply follows its own relocation guidelines, there’s no way the Rams can move _ at least not in 2015.
by jthomas 2:45PMFor the life of me it is obvious that opposition DC’s are loading the box and coming with pressure up the middle. Does Shotty not have roll outs to help Davis? Seems to me and I may be wrong but doesn’t he have scrambling and throwing ability? It is obvious that this O Line doesn’t give him much time and that he is ineffective under pressure.
by DesparateDave 2:47PMThe Rams have tried roll outs, screen passes. Quick bubble screens to the wide receivers. They’ve worked in varying degrees.
by jthomas 2:48PMHow many questions go unanswered during these chats? I’ve submitted several and nothing. Still like the chats. Thanks.
by ????? 2:48PMIt’s your lucky day. Here’s your answer: I guess about one in 10 get answered. There’s always a lot of questions.
by jthomas 2:49PMI assume that you can only answer the 3% of questions that aren’t fill with expletives?
by Jeff 2:49PM3% may be a little high.
by jthomas 2:50PMHey Jim,I been a rams fan since 1975 ,so I known football ,I want the rams to give tavon austin the ball more and try to sick to the run more ,p.s tell Mr Davis to keep his head up go rams forever
by Rodney 2:50PMAustin Davis is a stand up guy. Lot of respect for him as a football player.
by jthomas 2:51PMDenver in town Sunday, who will start at CB when in nickel and dime packages?
by West Coast 2:51PMIf Joyner’s not back, it will be Johnson and Jenkins at corner, and E.J. Gaines in the slot in the nickel package. There will have to be an extra safety in the in the dime if that’s the case. If Joyner is available, it’s an interesting call in the nickel. Do you bench Joyner and have Gaines covering the slot? Or vice versa.
by jthomas 2:55PMJT: The Rams had a plan to get a QB this offseason who could play if Bradford could not. He played well in the Pre-season (high qbr) .. who was that guy and is he available? I thought it was a good plan.
by Jeff In Utah 2:55PMAre you talking about Shaun Hill?
by jthomas 2:56PMMaybe SK is mad and you guys hurt his feelings when he was booed at the GSOT celebration…..so hes buying up LA land saying….”i’ll show you”….lol
by Dan in Phx 2:56PMHe couldn’t have been pleased.
by jthomas 2:56PMJT, safe to say new OC next year if Fisher isn’t gone?
by Cousin Vinny 2:56PMDon’t think so.
by jthomas 2:57PMYeah… Shaun Hill… thats the guy.. (I have always been a respectful fan of Hill as well)
by Jeff In Utah 2:57PMHe’s still around.
by jthomas 2:57PMI wondered this past offseason if the Rams would pick up Sanchez especially with the OC connection. What made them think Hill was better?
by AB3 2:57PMWhat makes you think Sanchez is better than Hill?
by jthomas 2:57PMCan you explain why any billionaire has “make more money” as his motivation for doing anything?
by tom 2:57 PMI don’t know. Some people like covering football. Some people like making deals. Some people like making money. I think that’s how they become billionaires.
by jthomas 2:59 PMJT: AD drops back too far from shotgun, he is getting 9 or 10 yards deep.. Is that part of what Fisher was talking about when he included Davis in the pass protection problems, not just the “watching the rush” .. QB’s should be 7 or 8 deep in pocket, 10 is too deep, so he gets more pressure than he should
by Jeff In Utah 3:00 PMInteresting point. There are times, I know when he should probably take a step or two up.
by jthomas 3:01 PMIs there anyone we can look at in place of Davin Joseph. He has been struggling all season.
by Ben S. 3:01 PMBarrett Jones, Tim Barnes can play guard. Jeff Fisher obviously would rather go with a veteran.
by jthomas 3:02 PMDo we have the makings of an above average secondary on the current roster?
by Greg in Raleigh 3:02 PMI really like what McDonald’s doing at safety. Granted it’s mainly as a box safety, but man did he have a game against Arizona. Barron made some eye-opening plays as well vs. Arizona _ granted he’s also a box safety. I think Gaines has the makings of a solid NFL corner. Still waiting for Jenkins to be more consistent and more disciplined. Jury still out on Johnson and McLeod.
by jthomas 3:05 PMLooks like the team used a lot of Big Nickel Sunday with Barron playing close to the line of scrimmage. I thought it added another playmaker on the field and reduced Dunbars snaps.
by Ben S. 3:05 PMDunbar’s snaps were down a little. He has been bothered by a toe injury _ not sure if it’s turf toe _ much of the season. I did like that package with Barron in Sunday’s game.
by jthomas 3:06 PMWhat’s the parade meter at now that we are halfway through the schedule?
by JR 3:06 PMDue to a reader suggestion last year on this very chat, the Parade Meter cannot change once the regular-season starts. So the meter stays at 7-9.
by jthomas 3:07 PMDo you see more teams going to college offenses (like the Eagles)? Finding a QB out of college has been tough (beside Luck, maybe Wilson?) recently for team like the Rams, Minny, TB, Tenn.
by CuJo 3:07 PMIt’s a copycat league, so we could see more of this up-tempo stuff.
by jthomas 3:08 PMIn your personal opinion, are the rams gone?
by robert 3:08 PMNo, my personal opinion is 50-50.
by jthomas 3:09 PMJim, this Sunday could get ugly could it not?
by Len 3:12 PMButt ugly. Mr. Manning has been known to complete a pass or two.
by jthomas 3:12 PMI have been a critic of Jared Cook for some time. I thought he had a very good game Sunday. If we can get more of the same from him week to week then I think we are a starting qb away from competing for a division title next year. Cardinals only 22 yards rushing against the defense.
by ramsfan 3:12 PMCook showed once again on Sunday some of his impressive talent. It’s always been a matter of seeing that on a more consistent basis. And yes, that was a very impressive effort on run defense vs. Az.
by jthomas 3:13 PMDon they rush Chris Long back or wait til next year?
by Cousin Vinny 3:13 PMLong will play this year, barring some kind of setback. He may be on the practice field this week. We’ll see tomorrow.
by jthomas 3:14 PMWill the Rams finally fire Fisher when they move in an effort to get the people of L.A. to buy PSLs?
by Jeff 3:14 PMKroenke’s not going to eat two years of that salary.
by jthomas 3:14 PMAfter his second injury to the same knee do you think the view of Carson Palmer is the same as Sam Bradford or will the Cardinals bring the former #1 pick back. Lots of parallels.
by Ben S. 3:15 PMI’m sure they’ll bring him back in Arizona. Palmer’s injuries were _ what _ eight years apart. And he certainly has more of a track record than Bradford.
by jthomas 3:15 PMHas Demoff pretty silent about the Inglewood meeting?
by Bob 3:15 PMHis response to me, and I paraphrase here: We do not comment on stadium issues.
by jthomas 3:16 PMWhat would you say the record would be if Sam would have stayed healthy
by Snow bound 3:18 PMHard to predict, I’d say maybe a couple more.
by jthomas 3:18 PMWould the rams consider moving jake long to guard next year
by ty 3:19 PMInteresting thought. But the question would remain: Can he stay healthy?
by jthomas 3:19 PMWhat are Mo Alexander’s chances of getting some votes for DROY? Oh wait, he doesn’t play. Sorry, forgot. Good pick though when there were a ton of 2nd tier developmental QBs available.
by Tackleberry 3:19 PMI said it at the time: I thought he was over-drafted.
by jthomas 3:20 PMAt this point, what 3 or 4 positions do you draft for?
by tom 3:20 PMInterior offensive line. Quarterback. Linebacker. Cornerback. Free safety.
by jthomas 3:21 PMI understand the frustration with this team, but we are developing players and we do have our 3rd string QB in there. Our best WR is out, our LT is out, our pro bowl DE is out not to mention an already bad secondary is banged up. Seems like the D coordinator is starting to figure out how to use certain players. We need Bradford to be what we expect him to be.
by Len 3:21 PMHere’s the sunny-side up view.
by jthomas 3:21PMWhat do the stats say about our Run D and big plays? It seems we get alot of stops for no gain or minimal gains but then we allow a couple of big runs that skew the avg (other than this past week where we excelled all game). It just seems like it’s either a 0 yard gain or a 20 yarder. How do we compare against the rest of the league?
by Sal 3:24PMThe Rams have given up 29 “explosive” running plays this season. That’s compared to 18 “explosive” running plays by their running games. Teams sometimes define explosive plays differently; the Rams define them as plays of 10 yards or more. The Rams’ defense gave up 18 of those explosive runs in the first four games, or 4 1/2 per game. They have given up only 11 explosive runs over the past five games, or 2.2 per game. So they’re doing better there _ they’ve cut those plays in half.
by jthomas 3:30PMHi jim i do believe in this team but we have to figure out how to used these players on offense i don’t wan’t to waste our talents on the defense this team is close but old school ball isn’t getting it!! i was listening to jeff making a point of getting tavon the ball more shouldn’t that been the game plan from the time we drafted him?
by roc 3:30PMRoc, I think if you trade up for a guy at No. 8 overall you find away to use him. Unless, that is, you decide he’s not nearly as good as you thought he was.
by jthomas 3:31PMGiven health can you see Bradford improving with these WR’s or do you think he has reached his ceiling.
by Ben S. 3:32PMCertainly. But the key words there are “given health.”
by jthomas 3:32PMJim, is Austin Davis on balance an upgrade over Kellen Clemens?
by ihtnep 3:32PMEven with this rough patch, he’s a better thrower with more upside.
by jthomas 3:33PMJeff Foxworthy said “If the Ref’s can call a penalty on you for delay of game on a kickoff, they may not like you.” Maybe?
by jeff utah 3:33PMHah. Never seen that one called before.
by jthomas 3:33PMJim, you seem to be implying Tavon is not nearly as good as they thought he was.
by Um 3:33PMMaybe. . .maybe not.
by jthomas 3:33PMThe 2012 and 13 wr draft class was average at best the rams drafted 4 wr overall horrible results so far this years wr class great the rams don’t draft any wr I think the rams are just unlucky
by ty 3:33PMBrian Quick was looking like a keeper before his injury.
by jthomas 3:34PMI believe as the playing time of Aaron Donald has increased the productivity of the opposing offense has decreased. Mark Barron, in my opinion, is a player.
by ramsfan 3:34PMSeems that way.
by jthomas 3:34PMEverybody repeat after me: our problem this year is NOT WR!
by tom 3:35PMAgreed.
by jthomas 3:35PMJim, if I go Sunday and try to buy a ticket on the street, is anything more than $10 a waste of money?
by ihtnep 3:35PMIt’s your money. $30 bucks for an upper-bowl ticket is reasonable to me. The sightlines in the dome are very good.
by jthomas 3:36PMIt seems Larranitus (sp?) is always chasing the play. Yes I see him making tackles, but it seems its always 7+ yards past the line of scrimmage, unless he happens to be blitzing from the outside and they run right at him. Why can’t he fill the hole and tackle at the line. He’s not aggressive enough. Your take
by CIO Wasting time 3:36PMI don’t know, he seemed pretty aggressive coming up with that goal line fumble by Kaepernick in Santa Clara a couple of Sunday’s ago. Laurinaitis is not the fastest LB to begin with, and he’s been playing with a bum leg lately.
by jthomas 3:38PMI wrote that you suggested SB might be inclined to stay but that his agent might think otherwise (given his fiduciary duties to his client); I said that this is ultimately SB’s call, with the agent an advisor, you might be separating the dancer from the dance too much, so to speak; and I observed that Sam might like staying with the same OC for another year–but nothing of what I observe and would like comment on is more than speculation (unlike your assessment of Tavon Austin, which you’ve dodged successfuly)
by Um 3:38PMOf course it’s ultimately the player’s call. But many players defer to their agents. They trust them. That’s why they hired them.
by jthomas 3:40PMGawd…..If you were Sam Bradford, why would you want to come back to this mess?
by Shaun Hill 3:40PMI guess it depends on what the alternatives are.
by jthomas 3:41PMHey Jimmy, its a shame the Rams couldnt close out that game the other day, played their butts off for 3.5 quarters and then just collapsed. How much did this take out of team? I see a Broncos beatdown coming up.
by Fisher 3:41PMThey seem pretty resilient. And they do seem to be building some momentum on defense. We all thought that they were dead after Kansas City, and then they come back to beat San Francisco the next week. I’m not saying that will happen this week. But stranger things have happened.
by jthomas 3:43PMDo u think the rams will spend any money in free agency this year cuz the long cook and finnegan signings seem to scare them away from big money free agent signings?
by ty 3:43PMI don’t think the Cook signing has scared them from big money signings, but Finnegan, yes. The Jake Long signing will make them more cautionary about signing players with injury histories. The Scott Wells signing may make them more cautious about signing players over 30. They are in position to have decent cap space this offseason, but maybe they will use the money more on re-signing some of their younger players.
by jthomas 3:46PMWhat really are Bradfords options? Jets, Tampa Bay, Buffalo, Tennessee?
by Len 3:46PMMaybe Houston, Washington, Chicago.
by jthomas 3:47PMWhat’s the deal with bailey?
by willeyeam 3:47PMI hear you. Strange to me that he’s not getting the ball more. He was on the field a lot vs. Arizona, too.
by jthomas 3:48PMI might be in the minority here, but I would think the Ram players would want to get on the field and play the Broncos. The Rams have nothing to fear as their defense played outstanding against Arizona. Your thoughts?
by Hank 3:48PMOf course.
by jthomas 3:48PMJT……In your opinion, is the 60 Acre tract next to the forum large enough to accommodate a stadium and all the amenities?
by Ghost of Governor Reagan 3:48PMFunctionally it’s large enough. But ideal? Not even close. Multiple people in and around the league have told me as much.
by jthomas 3:49PMwho would u draft at qb if u could
by Billy 3:50PMWay too early for me to tell.
by jthomas 3:50 PMbecause it’s not nearly the mess you think: Imagine a first-rate guard, another LB and another CB…
by Um 3:50 PMWe’ve heard all that before though, haven’t we?
by jthomas 3:51 PMDo you see Salary cuts and Rams being big in free agency? I think I do, we have enough young players to pony up some 1 year guranteed money.. Wells, J. Long gone, JL salary goes from 10 to 4 mil …
by jeff utah 3:51 PMYeah, I anticipate some cap cuts _ either outright cuts or reduced salaries.
by jthomas 3:51 PMGood day Jim but if you get to talk to Stan tell him for us that the Rams belong in Saint Louis
by Billy 3:51 PMI would love to get that opportunity.
by jthomas 3:52 PMAside from one play, the secondary seem to play a perfect game. Was the because of the addition of Barron or the subtraction of Jenkins?
by bfulton 3:52 PMJenkins actually played a lot on Sunday. The secondary was good. They played a lot of single-high safety with off-coverage from the corners, and it looked like a lot of zone to me. (Yes, off-coverage can be effective.) The blitzes were effective.
by jthomas 3:53 PMWould the rams consider trading jenkins with johnson gaines, joyner already on the roster next year
by ty 3:53 PMCould be wrong, but don’t think the Rams are ready to give up on Jenkins. A little depth wouldn’t hurt.
by jthomas 3:54 PMIs Stacy in the dog house? How else can you explain how a close to 1000 yard back gets buried down the depth chart?
by willeyeam 3:54 PMWho would you sit in his place? Mason or Cunningham?
by jthomas 3:54 PMThe Rams have beaten recent Super Bowl participant SF. current Super Bowl champion Seattle and played 8-1 Cardinal team very well. if they can compete against the Denver Broncos that would certainly bode well for the future outlook especially with a unproven quarterback. Your thoughts.
by ramsfan 3:55 PMAgreed. It’s great to compete, but it’s better to win.
by jthomas 3:55 PMIf the Rams find themselves in a position to draft Winston, do they? Or will existing discipline issues prevent them from adding additional character concerns. Would you?
by Coach Dix 3:55 PMI’m wary of him right now because of those concerns, but I can’t tell you how the Rams feel.
by jthomas 3:56 PMif 60 acres is not ideal, how many acres is the purposed/rumored riverfront site?
by CuJo 3:56 PMDon’t know for sure. But it’s more than 60.
by jthomas 3:56 PMWhen do you think the next update will be regarding building a new stadium in St. Louis? I hear something new from LA everyday
by Bill Jones 3:56 PMFrom the LA Times? Really?
by jthomas 3:56 PMBack on the stadium issue… If something can get worked out do you think Mr. K will be forking out bucks to really make the area an attraction or is this just going to be a stadium? Either way I hope there is not covered parking but rather large parking areas for tailgating. Would be great to see everyone BBQing before the game. KC knows how to do it right.
by CIO Wasting time 3:57 PMSupposedly, there will be three large surface lots.
by jthomas 3:58 PMGet me a legitimate NFL qb and competing will turn into wins
by ramsfan 3:58 PMNo doubt it’s hard to win without strong QB play.
by jthomas 3:58 PMWhy haven’t u interviewed John Shaw on the stadium situation? After all he’s well versed in the area…….
by Daryl Henley 3:58 PMWhat would you like me to ask him?
by jthomas 3:58 PMFor this sunday, seems like every year the rams pull a major upset at home out of thin air. Like Blowout fashion (i.e. Indy, chicago, NO a few years back..) history repeating vs manning and co?
by tim 3:59 PMWe’ll see. Fisher’s teams seem to play well in the supreme underdog role.
by jthomas 3:59 PMSo, if the Rams want St. Louis to build the stadium, who gets the final approval on the design?
by Andy 4:00 PMInteresting point. Don’t think we’re too that point yet. If both the Rams and St. Louis are putting money into the project, they would both want input.
by jthomas 4:01 PMEven with the offensive innovation over the past few years, I’m guessing teams run plays that have been around forever. Just curious – do you ever watch a game and say, “Hey, that’s the old Joe Gibbs counter-tre!” and do you recognize any old Mike Martz plays still in use by teams?
by Andy 4:01 PMI think New England incorporated some of Martz’s stuff in the time after its Super Bowl upset over the Rams. It’s part of coaching football, you steal what you can.
by jthomas 4:02 PMJim don’t you think Kronke would rather own the stadium?
by Stubob007 4:06 PMHe does like controlling the revenue streams _ as many as he can.
by jthomas 4:06 PMMebane out for year … ughh for Hawks
by jeff utah 4:06 PMHe’s a very good interior player. That’s not good for them, especially without Red Bryant around.
by jthomas 4:07 PMCan we please build an exact replica of the Seahawks stadium? How much does something like that cost?
by Coach Dix 4:07 PMI think the going rate for stadiums in this market size would be about $1 billion.
by jthomas 4:07 PMwhy do you think Rams have been struggling in the fourth quarter this seaon?
by shertd 4:07 PMWe’d all like that answer to that, wouldn’t we. For one, the Rams don’t seem to play well when they’re forced to be one-dimensional _ into a pass-only mode. I do wonder if adjustments get to them as the game goes along. And I also wonder if they have enough poise and maturity to hold up when consistently when things go wrong or the game’s on the line.
by jthomas 4:10 PMCan Scottenheimers play calling be blamed for the porous offensive line or is it lack of skill up front?
by Greg in Raleigh 4:11 PMI think Schotty should be blamed for everything including Global Warming.
by jthomas 4:12 PMWho is the owner of the Rams practice facility in Earth City?
by Steve 4:12 PMSteve, I’ve wanted to get to this one for a while. The practice facility in Earth City is owned by the Regional Sports Authority, the same group that owns the Edward Jones Dome.
by jthomas 4:13 PMI think Stan should sell the Rams to Saint Louis
by Billy 4:13 PMBut to paraphrase Stan, does this “St. Louis” have the jack to make the purchase.
