This is a D draft, we did not draft any Offensive linemen, Defensive linemen, or CBs.

IMO Fuller is a special teamer. And could be a top one.

From his write-up, just picking the highlights that mark him as a potentially excellent special teamer: https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jordan-fuller?id=32194655-4c33-7423-403a-432f7075ed42

Fuller is an excellent football player and exceptional all-around student-athlete.
He was a captain for the Buckeyes in 2018 and 2019.

Hurries downhill to cut off angles and limit explosive runs
Agility to make quick alterations to pursuit angles
    Can track and attack downfield
Has leadership traits on and off the field

Three year starter, Old Tappen, NJ. First-team All-Big 10 in 2019. Has experience at safety and slot corner. Mostly over a slot prior to 2019. Transitioned to safety primarily playing the deep zones including quarters, halves and single high safety. Also rolled down to the box in cover 1 and 3. Adapted well to safety and has been productive. Has decent range in deep coverage. Solid in run support tracking quickly moving downhill with adjustments to maintain leverage on the ball. Flashes hand use versus a receiver’s block. Around the ball a lot and in on a lot of tackles. Takes shuffle steps in his backpedal to maintain cushion allowing him to get in position deep or short. Flips his hips with little wasted movement reacting to pattern pressure. Sees the threats and the quarterback. Very good at route recognition and getting over the top and reacting to the intermediate throw. Has hands to work the catch point. Flashes matchup skill and can mirror route breaks with most tight ends and some slots. Smart and physical tackler. Will lower his head and make wrap up tackle. Some hitch in transitions. Demonstrates quick plant and drive breaking on the throw. Occasionally rounds off reactions. An ascending player at safety who has upside and can play in the right scheme. 2019 stats: 62 T, 4 PBU, 2 INT. OSR:18/24. Third/fourth round. (A-31, H-9, VJ – 35.5, SS-4.27)

    Los Angeles Rams@RamsNFL
What type of player are we getting in @j_fuller4?
“”They’re getting a guy that’s willing to do anything for the team, really,” Fuller said. “Whether it’s special teams, putting in all the hours that’s necessary to go win games.”

    from https://www.therams.com/news/jordan-fuller-ohio-state-five-things-to-know

Rams midwest area scout Brian Hill believes the team got a steal in Fuller at pick No. 199.

“He had a previous hip injury the year before, and this year he was finally healthy,” Hill said on a Rams post-draft show with general manager Les Snead and other team scouts. “They didn’t hold him back at all in practice, he was ready to go on Saturdays. I think a slow 40 (-yard dash) time at Indy got him, but he plays faster than that. I mean, he’s got range.”

at this point i have complete trust in any defensive back they draft.

so you have fuller, rapp, jj, and burgess all as options at safety. shoot we can even expect to see ramsey at safety.

at the very least fuller should be excellent on special teams.

    den-the-coach

I found it interesting that DC Brandon Staley spoke about conversing with former Ohio State Co-Defensive Coordinator and now Boston College Head Coach Jeff Hafley about Fuller. IMO, Hafley is a coach on the rise and Staley stated Hafley raved about Fuller always making the right plays being in position at all times plus a great leader as Fuller was a two time captain.

Everyone knows I watch every Ohio State game and Fuller was the type of player that seem to overachieved, but rarely do I recall him being beaten and rarely missing a tackle. 4.6 speed is why he was drafted in the 6th round and I expect a year of adjustment, however, going forward Fuller could offer quite a bit in Staley’s scheme and I’m anxious to see how the kid handles himself at the next level.
