Lots of chatter about “establishing the run” in the NFL and how data shows that’s an outdated way to think/call an offense. I agree. However, I’ve always thought as a player that “ETR” was about asserting physical dominance over the opponent. Body blows over a game
There’s a fine line between running the ball just to run the ball, especially if it’s not working. But those body blows on defenders slow them down against the pass. It grinds on them so when you’re winning in the 4th and you’re running to grind out the clock, they are weak
The ball is thrown so quickly now that I think the idea that OL prefer run blocking is going away a bit.

OTA report for all 32 teams according to beat coverage:
– Every team got better
– All free agents look good
– Players that were injured last year look healthy
– Rookies are really impressive
– Players in contract years not worried, just focused on “playing my best”

This isn’t even close to accurate.
Right, because we’ve all written that Todd Gurley is completely healthy. Or that he doesn’t represent an unknown. And none of us have written that until Noteboom and Allen prove themselves, they are question marks. Or that ILB and NT will likely be filled by unproven newcomers
By the same token, I’m not going to apologize for the honest observations I’ve made about a team that’s won more games than any team in the NFL the last two years. I write what I see.
