I believe Kyler Murray will be 1st pick of this draft but there is no way after 1 year any person with football sense can label Josh Rosen a bust. Not fair to him. It may not be in Arizona but he should/will get the chance to shine somewhere.

The schedule minimizes schematic surprises from opponents with new coaches. Most notably, #LARams don’t see ARI (KK & perhaps Murray) until December. Kitchens ran CLE last year, falls Week 3. Arians known commodity, W4. Taylor familiar, W8.

They had Rodgers as the ONLY remaining first round grade on the board and the Offensive coaches begged them not to draft Rodgers.

Something to keep in mind if you’re pouring through those NFL schedules and already assigning Ws and Ls based on last year’s performances: For 29 straight years now, the NFL has had at least four teams make the playoffs that didn’t make it the year before. Including seven last yr

Rams don’t need much on offense in the draft, but reinforcements on the offensive line are a must

TE is one of the most difficult positions to scout because:

    1. usage is so important
    2. they have such small sample sizes in college

Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson had fewer targets their entire college careers than Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz had all last season

The cost of representing players has gotten out-of-control for agents. Stories about players taking advantage of agents can be huge turn-offs for NFL teams. Many players scare-off teams by being high-maintenance. #truth

Sources: #Raiders coach Jon Gruden and GM Mike Mayock sent their scouts home for the weekend and they are not expected to return by draft time. The belief is they don’t know who to trust and wanted to clear the room.

    Albert Breer@AlbertBreer
Expectation has been that much of the scouting department would be turned over post-draft. Looks like word being out there on it led Mayock, Gruden, and Co. to close ranks.

There will be significant changes to scouting staff after the draft, so this makes sense to keep those guys out. Happens around the NFL each season (pro personnel director was let go months ago already).

    Gil Brandt@Gil_Brandt
We never cleared the room but sometimes we’d lay traps for scouts we didn’t trust. In 1987 we showed our board to a scout with us taking Mike Junkin, a LB we didn’t like. Two days later, Cowboys beat writer Jim Dent wrote story saying we were taking Junkin.

    Hook, line, stinker.

Talked to a GM who said that the first 12-15 players in the draft are solid. The next 20-25 are basically at the same talent level meaning if that’s where you’re picking then a need player might be best available player

The Rams haven’t spent a high pick on defense in quite some time. That looks bound to change in this draft:

Asking a coach which players they’d draft is essentially asking them who has the highest athletic/physical potential. Cos they’ll coach em up.

I dislike doing the mock draft.
It is just another way for people to look at me and say, “Man, you’re stupid.”
I get enough of that already.

Hey Gil. How about when you lied to me in 1988 that you were taking Gaston Green even though you had Walker and Dorsett? You were counting on me telling George Young so NYG wouldn’t know you were hot for Michael Irvin. Nobody can be trusted this time of year, right? Even HOFers.
