Registration Terms

Postby RamsMaineiac » Apr 22, 2012 9:55 pm

As this topic came up in a recent post, I through I would refresh your understanding of the terms and conditions of registration for the site.

REGISTRATION TERMS
By accessing “The Rams Huddle” (hereinafter “we”, “us”, “our”, “The Rams Huddle”, “http://www.theramshuddle.com”), you agree to be legally bound by the following terms. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all of the following terms then please do not access and/or use “The Rams Huddle”. We may change these at any time and we’ll do our utmost in informing you, though it would be prudent to review this regularly yourself as your continued usage of “The Rams Huddle” after changes mean you agree to be legally bound by these terms as they are updated and/or amended.

Our forums are powered by phpBB (hereinafter “they”, “them”, “their”, “phpBB software”, “www.phpbb.com”, “phpBB Group”, “phpBB Teams”) which is a bulletin board solution released under the “General Public License” (hereinafter “GPL”) and can be downloaded from http://www.phpbb.com. The phpBB software only facilitates internet based discussions, the phpBB Group are not responsible for what we allow and/or disallow as permissible content and/or conduct. For further information about phpBB, please see: http://www.phpbb.com/.

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where “The Rams Huddle” is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that “The Rams Huddle” have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should we see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither “The Rams Huddle” nor phpBB shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

You agree not to post any materials protected under copyright, trademark, or trade secret laws unless with the express authorization of the owner; or any material likely to defame or invade the privacy of any individual. You agree to indemnify the owners of the site and their affiliates and employees from any liability (including attorney fees) related to User’s violation of this agreement.

As you all know, my engagement with the site has been limited of late, but I do not mind providing this space so long as its usage does not create liability for me. Please be aware of copyright law, understand your personal responsibilities and behave in a manner consistent with copyright law. If you have posts that you believe violate copyright law, please edit them to comply with the law. As I am not a lawyer, I will not advise you on what that means, but I do reserve the right to edit or delete any posts I believe may violate the law. You may want to Google and find resources about copyright fair use, such as this one here, if you are unsure.

Also, to ensure that everyone has had a chance to review the terms, I will be doing a global reactivation of all users later this week. I know, crappy timing with the draft coming up, but should you have any problems reactivating, please contact me at ramsmaineiac@mainecove.com.

Are you asking us to do that going forward or to edit all past posts?

The message is, at the end of the day you personally are responsible for the content you post here. You own any copyright infringement you create. So if the copyright lawyers come knocking on the door after you because you left a post up that lifted an article about how Chris Massey was the cornerstone for the Rams during his nine year stay in St Louis, don't say I didn't warn you.

This isn't new news, and is the same for anywhere you post on the web. Copyright is copyright, right?

I know I personally won't be able to easily review all 45,870 posts made here since last April, so at some time, I might just wipe the slate clean to make it easier on all. You can also do a post search structured like
search.php?author=thordaddy&keywords=stltoday
and you might find some low hanging fruit to mitigate your risk.

Also, to be clear, I have received no complaints, but I do respect the merit of copyright law and certainly value the sustainability of the news industry.

Hope that clarifies.

Very helpful, I used that search and deleted all that came up.
The funny thing is it turned up where I quoted things other people had copied entirely so the domino effect exists here as well. Dunno. might be a global delete could be in order ,anyway ,thanks for your help and hosting this place.

Upon reflection I think all this is unnecessary.

Every other board posts PD articles with a link. No one is hassling them and my understanding is that the admins there are in communication with PD people and know the guidelines. This includes the Herd, ROD, and RRF. JIm Thomas even knows some of the RRF admins from camp. If there were an issue they would have made it public long ago.

I said that the old zine (in 99) got warned to take PD stuff down, but then they took the zine as a blog and therefore technically a competitor. They treat message boards differently.

I don't think any dire steps are needed and even in the unlikely event the PD goes postal, the people there would warn the admins here first. '

I think new posters should be required to bring at least two Smileys with them as an entrance fee. I did an informal poll of most of the remaining posters and I found that I agree with me.

GO RAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
