    Very sad.

They are tired of promises not kept by politicians. But at the same time if a politician tries to tell them the truth, that politician loses their vote. They cling stubbornly to a past that offered them prosperity even though they can never return to that time. It isn’t forward looking it is backward looking–and who can blame them? The forward looking doesn’t look so great. Amazon? Google? What would they really offer them compared to what they once had with the coal industry in terms of wages? They would more likely be exploited for cheap labor.

These people seem tired and beaten.

I get it. The Democrats have done a crappy job helping them when they held power. The Republicans are worse.

They HAVE to have faith in empty promises. It’s all they have.

This didn’t even touch on any of the cultural trigger points like guns and abortion that is used to control their votes as well.

It’s a shame. Who can feel good about the state or direction of this country right now?

True–the majority of Americans rejected Trump. But somehow that’s empty consolation.

As Zooey noted in the previous topic–power is consolidating power. Majority opinion seems to have very little value these days.

They elected a Billionaire Democrat governor. Who, after the election announced he was switching to the Rep Party. Nobody batted an eye. Duplicats, Replicants, doesn’t matter.

Politics as a religion is effective at controlling votes but very dangerous as well.

Any clear thinking person understands that the only thing Trump worships is money. And yet–if he can cling to some sort of persecuted religious image(aided by religious charlatans) he becomes more than just another politician.

    That’s a scary thing.
