    The Rams will actually save about $1M towards the 2017 cap by swapping CB EJ Gaines for WR Sammy Watkins, because Watkins was previously paid a big chunk of his 2017 salary as a training camp bonus. Watkins, paid less than $700,000 as a base salary, will be a free agent after this season because the Bills didn’t pick up his fifth-year option. Rams hope to figure something out with him beyond this year.
