Enh. I dunno. Looks hyped up, not really substantial.

    I’m with you there.

Patrick Stewart single-handedly revived the entire Star Trek franchise.

I liked all the Star Trek captains and I am willing to give this new group of actors a shot.

It’s just that to me, the trailer hypes the thing the wrong way. I can’t even put a finger on what I am saying…the hype is just wrong.

Doug Jones as Lieutenant Saru, Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, and Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou.

Sonequa Martin-Greem was in The Walking Dead as Sasha

Michelle Yeoh is a big deal. She’s Patrick Stewart level big deal as an actor. She’s perhaps most famous from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon:

The intriguing one though is Doug Jones, on the left, heavily in make-up. He is famous for playing different kinds of critters. For example, he is Abe Sapien in Hellboy:

He is also, most famously, the faun in Pan’s Labyrinth:

Here is a pic I know of–Doug Jones behind the scenes, in costume, during the filming of Pan’s Labyrinth:

I posted that pic once on Facebook in response to an article about Doug Jones by his brother. Doug Jones himself responded to me for posting it.

BTW, the Vulcan officer in the trailer is Sarek, Spock’s father. We saw Sarek in the original series and in later series as well as I think one film. This series is set 10 years before the Kirk/Spock series, so that’s a younger Sarek.

What is the deal with CBS All Access? Is it easily pirated? (If yes, then I’ll watch this, if no, no).
