Actually last year the Rams played 5 top defenses in 7 games (because they played ARZ and Seattle twice each). In those games they were 3-4, which considering all their issues (insert long list here) is surprisingly not that bad.

Just going by last years standings, this year the Rams play 7 top 10 defenses in 9 games (again with ARZ and Sea doubling). They play defenses ranked 20th or lower 6 times.

Just looking at that, no matter how much McVay and Goff each develop this year (McVay as a rookie head coach and Goff as a 2nd year qb) they will need the defense to win.

OK, now how many top 10 offenses do we play?

I am less worried about that personally, but, it;s a good question and here goes.

I break it down this way. I look at top 12 offenses and bottom 12 offenses.

They play 6 teams in 7 games against bottom 12 offenses.

They play 7 teams in 9 games against top 12 offenses. (They actually play 3 of the top 5: New Orleans, Washington, Dallas).

Just top 10 offenses, it;s 6 of them. But one (Indy) could be without their starting qb.
