The Los Angeles Rams released defensive tackle Tyrunn Walker on Thursday amid an investigation into an alleged sexual assault.
Jim Mustian and Ramon Antonio Vargas of the Advocate reported Walker and another man, Justin Williams, have been accused of sexual assault that occurred during a Mardi Gras party in February. Two women said they were drugged and that one sustained a number of injuries as a result of the alleged assault, including vaginal tearing.
One of the women said Walker and Williams forced her to perform oral sex. She later said she blacked out in a hotel room before waking up to both men performing sex acts on her. The woman has been granted a temporary restraining order against Williams.
The other woman told police she intervened when she awoke to find Walker attempting to penetrate her friend.
“I ripped him off of her while yelling at them to get off,” she wrote in a court document.
Both women describe being handed drinks by Walker and Williams earlier in the night before their memories became hazy. Lafayette Parish district attorney Keith Stutes said police presented him with information on the case June 15.
Walker, 27, signed with the Rams after spending his previous two seasons with the Detroit Lions. He recorded 26 tackles in 15 games played in 2016.
