The Rams are promoting from within. Zac Taylor, the Rams’ assistant receivers coach, will be the new QB coach, replacing Greg Olson, who left to become the Raiders’ offensive coordinator. Taylor was previously the Dolphins’ QB coach

which means Jared Goff will be on his third QB coach in three years …

Better than being on his third offense in three years.

glad the rams didn’t decide to not hire a qb coach.

goff although not the rams’ best player. he’s their most important player. hopefully, this’ll be a good partnership.

i saw on his bio that he coached ryan tannehill at miami.

looks like he made steady improvement under taylor with taylor also taking over playcalling duties in 2015 before he left.

Taylor was with the Dolphins from 2012-15 as the qb coach then interim coordinator. This was under Philbin, who before being the Miami HC, was the coordinator in GB for 5 years. This all amounts to heavy WCO credentials. Taylor’s 34, which, combined with LaFleur (38) and McVay (31), averages out to 34.3 years old, which is a young group.

It also means that when he was Miami’s interim coordinator in 2015, he was 32.

Los Angeles Rams promote Zac Taylor as new QB coach

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Rams are replacing Greg Olson from within the organization, announcing Tuesday that former assistant wide receivers coach Zac Taylor has been promoted to be the team’s new quarterbacks coach.

Olson left to become the Oakland Raiders’ offensive coordinator, a move Jon Gruden announced during his introductory news conference.

Taylor served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bearcats in 2016. He spent the previous four years with the Miami Dolphins, going from assistant quarterbacks coach to quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator and primary play-caller in the second half of 2015. Under Taylor’s watch, Ryan Tannehill became the first quarterback in franchise history to throw for 3,000-plus yards in each of his first four seasons.

Now Taylor will guide Jared Goff, serving as his third quarterbacks coach in three NFL seasons.

Taylor’s presence on last year’s staff, coupled with the continued presence of head coach Sean McVay and offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, gives the Rams hope for a smooth transition.

“Zac’s promotion is a testament to him and the coaches that we have in place, as well as our desire as an organization to build and grow from within,” McVay said in a team-issued statement. “He has a clear understanding of our offense, and we’re confident in his ability to coach this group at a high level and that his transition into the role will be seamless.”
