Al Luginbill head coach of the Amsterdam Admirals needed a QB. He liked what he saw of a arena football player one Kurt Warner. He needed a NFL team to sign him and allocate him in order for him to play in NFL Europe. So on his 12th phone call to a NFL team he called Armey and the Rams.

Luginbill was the coach of one Marshal Faulk at SDSU and also a friend of Armey. Armey was intrigued by what Luginbill had to say and him wanting the Rams to give Kurt a tryout.

So Armey had looked at Warner when he was with the Patriots and found in his personal notes he had made on him that he had wrote Warner has a chance to develop into a solid QB in the NFL based upon his accuracy and arm strength. However at the time since the Pats had Bledsoe and Scott Zolak he did not feel they needed a QB.

So Armey had a friend named Mike Kolling at Northern Iowa who happened to be Armey’s QB in his first coaching job at a high School in Gainsville, MN. Mike Kolling was a friend of Warners since he played for them while Mike was on staff and Warner still would come in and workout using their facilities.

So in a phone call between Kolling and Armey, Kolling said yes you have to see this kid he has such accuracy. Armey agreed to a workout to see what Warner had. Warner was brought in for a workout we signed him and allocated him to the Admirals.

Vermeil liked what he saw from him over there. He kept him as the #3 in 98 when Rhome wanted Will Furrer. And the rest is all yhe beautiful football history of the greatest show on turf

So he could have been a patriot. Imagine if they had Warner and Brady. Crazy
