Apparently 5’8″ WR Shakeir Ryan of Northwestern State has made a big impression. If you saw the post this past weekend from a tweet by Joe Curley of the Ventura County Star he said that Shakeir Ryan had made a big impression on him during the rookie mini-camp. Well apparently Shakeir has really made an impression on the Rams coaching staff too as he was one of three try-out players signed to contract and will be there for the OTAs. Check out his highlights on video. Shakeir is lightning quick and fast and real weapon. Reminds me of AZ Hakim back in the day. He might be one of those feel good stories in camp this year.

Is it just me or does he remind of a slightly smaller version of TA?

    Yeah, okay. He’s 5’8″ and weighs 160.

So…he may be great at football, but he isn’t big enough.

I was thinking almost the samething… only I was thinking a bigger version of Tavon….

I know that the program guide states that Tavon is 5’9″, but that seems to be an alternative fact to me…. Tavon looks smaller than Dave Meggett

What happened to the Harold Carmichael’s of the world?

Yea…I never believe any of the heights the team distributes so I looked at the combine and they had him at 69 inches.

Really though I was referring to TA seems built much more solidly than Shak…I saw some pics of TA last year and he looked ripped….not that I’m in love or anything.

I also was interested in Shaks 40 time and I found he ran a 4.41 so a touch slower…not sure this guy sticks but he could possibly be a PS guy.

Better hands than TA could be a replacement or motivational strategy.

    Short slow guy (comparatively)? NEXT

I’m not so sure he’s slow…4.41 isn’t a slow time and he sure looked fast in that high light real.

The combine type 40 time is something I look at but I also realize not all of these guys are track guys…so things like getting off the blocks costs them whereas a track sprinter guy helps himself.

Jerry Rice is always a good one to look at…what did he run a 4.7? something like that…no way was he a 4.7 guy.

The reports coming out early about him are encouraging…I’m more concerned with his weight and his durability…can he put on some weight and maintain speed?

4.41 40 at 5’8 means every corner is taller than you and faster than you. I,m going to keep my expectations low on this one

I checked the 2017 combine results for cornerbacks and in a class that was highly regarded I only found 4 guys that posted a time better than 4.41

5’8 is short but not unheard of….I believe separation is more important than height…but that is just my opinion.

As I have stated, I’m more concerned about the 160 lbs….I just think he’s too slight to hold up and would have to add muscle.
