    That’s amazing.

You’d know better than I . . . but whales and dolphins are supposed to be smarter than humans, right? The former are massive. Horrible to think they were nearly driven to extinction for oil.

Not smarter than humans but pretty intelligent nonetheless. I once talked to an animal trainer who compared the intelligence of dolphins with above average dogs – which is pretty damn smart. But that trainer is basing intelligence on the ability and speed in which the animal masters tricks. I’m not sure that is a fair measure.

As you know, intelligence is a tough thing to measure anyway. I’m not sure we can say for sure how intelligent animals are. As we learn more and more it appears many animals are much more intelligent than they are given credit for.

For example corvids (crows, jays, etc) are much MUCH more intelligent than we ever thought. Here’s a good article on that.

And here’s an interesting article on the latest research into dolphin intelligence.

Latest I’ve read equated the intelligence of a porpoise to that of a 5 year old human.

The upside to being a Rams fan is heartbreak.

    Sprinkles are for winners.
