A couple of months ago, it looked like most thought we could be resting players for this game. Now this is a must win game for us. A win means we clinch a bye, a loss, means that Chicago would get the bye by beating Minnesota. I’m not sold on the Vikings beating Bears next week by the way.

SF gave Chicago all it could handle, though that was at home.

    blue = good for Rams
red = area of a little concern for Rams

    DEFENSE

    10th in yards, total defense
    24th in points allowed
    12th in passing yards allowed
12th in yards per passing attempt
    18th in sack percentage
    12th in rushing yards allowed
9th in rushing yards per attempt
    32nd in turnovers

    OFFENSE

    16th in yards, total offense
    23rd in points
    16th in passing yards
12th in yards per passing attempt
    24th in sack percentage
    13th in rushing yards
14th in rushing yards per attempt

    30th in turnovers

Ought to be a win but there’s that “scrappy” factor that make them tough. I think Shanahan teams will always be tough that way. They may be 4-11 but in the last 2 games they beat Seattle in overtime (also at home) and came that close to pulling it out against the Bears (lost 9-14). But then they also lost to Arizona twice and are 0-7 on the road.

A top ten defense, by some measures.

    Inter esting.

I really want that thirteenth win. Thats rarefied air.

I also really want Donald to get 20 sacks.

Vikes are at home and must win to get in the Bears can’t get a bye without help from the 9ers.The 9ers were healthier when the Rams feature. In their house by 29 points. The vikes have a better shot of beating da bears than the 9ers do of beating a refocused Rams team

Do the niners have any reason to play hard? Whats their motivation?

I don’t have much knowldege of the 49ers this year. After Garoppolo went down, the season was over, and I have not heard anything about them since. They had already lost McKinnon, I think. So that’s that. Whatever they had to offer, it was gone. Just imagine the Rams without Goff and Gurley.

    Season Over.

Usually I unavoidably hear about the 9ers (and Raiders) because that’s what people talk about up and down the radio dial. But 9er talk just stopped, basically. All the fans and the radio hosts just turned the page.

Matt Breida and Dante Pettis are also out, so the 49ers will not score. I’m sure the Rams will make RB Jeff Wilson look like a legitimate NFL RB since the Rams are good at that kind of thing, but it won’t be enough.

This has all the makings of one of those games that will resemble an NFL game in a semi-satisfying way for about the first 28 minutes, and then just turn into a time-killing slopfest with the Rams just playing not to lose, and the 49ers mentally cleaning out their lockers by halftime. I think it’s going to be difficult to sit through.

Well they didn’t have any motivation against the Bears last week either, and yet took it to them. I just think that team is a reflection of Shanahan and they like to compete. A spoiler victory preventing the Rams from sweeping the division would probably feel good I suppose.

If Donald gets 20 sacks in this game, I say the Rams squeak this one out.

Well it IS true that the Rams have never lost a game where Donald gets 20 or more sacks.

Not sure about your take on the Niners. Several weeks ago Shanahan made it very clear that he and the staff would be watching for any lack of effort from his players. They’ve played pretty well since then. Their QB, Mullens, is fearless and has put up good numbers since he took the starting job and the Rams absolutely need to spy on Kittle, who is a beast. On the plus side for us, their red-zone offense is pathetic. This was a problem even with Garropollo.

I see this as a trap game. I’m just hoping the Rams can get out to a big lead early and sit some starters in the 2nd half.
